Over the past few weeks I have had a hand full of people most of them who are considering gun ownership for the first time come up to me and ask me a wide variety of intelligent questions. I have been a little surprised when the topic of guns come up at work I add my two cents but I have never gone out of my way to discuss my opinions while at work. Many of them work different shifts than the one I am on so I asked them how they knew I open carry and they all seemed to have herd it from someone different. It's really fun to watch the exasperation on peoples faces when they figure out they do not have to hide there guns like a common criminal. Over the past few weeks guns have become a increasingly more popular conversation at work so while I still don't know how I got the name I guess for now I'm known as the gun guy

That's awesome!! I have developed the same reputation at work. Next week I have three people lined up to go to the range with me that have never shot before. I love passing on good information in order to help them make an informed decision about defending themselves.

Hey, that's not a bad moniker to be saddled with! :dude:

What holster are you using? I have a Taurus 9 mm pt111 Millineum pro. I am looking for a retention holster for it. Only two I have found that comes close is a Bladetech for a glock 26 / xd IWB it flips my safety off and has a trigger retention. I dont feel safe with it so I dont carry chambered if I use it. I also have a bully dog cloth with a fakeulous thumb strap I dont like it either, it is floppy. Let me know what you use.

I use the Fobus SP11B Paddle Holster. It readily accomodates my MilPro PT111 and my MilPro PT138.

The holster offers excellent retention of the handgun and the paddle makes for easy "on and off" when the need arises.

I also use a Fobus for my Millennium Pro in .40. Unless you get a custom-made holster, Fobus is pretty much the only company (that I have found) that has holsters pre-made for the Millennium Pro series. Fobus makes good holsters.

So you are saying that you find it easy to carry concealed* using a Fobus paddle? Do you wear an untucked shirt or are you doing some ninja tucking trick?

stay safe.

*Yes, I do know he does not OC - unless he has recently changed his behavior and not mentioned it.

Have you checked out SERPA CQC holsters? I have one that is Level II for my 24/7 which I think might be the same size. Back OT, even in the Army I was the "gun guy".

Me too. My last Command did a great deal of military funerals. Gun salutes at all, w/ 16A2s. I was the one selected to carry concealed to act as primary security when we transported/travelled. Funny how they pick us out for names like that..

Yup, another gun guy here. Because everything that comes out of my mouth us gun related it is a daily topic. Unfortunately most of my coworkers worship the CWL status they have and think I'm crazy for even suggesting the idea of practicing your rights with out the permission slip.

sent from my phone, excuse my grammar/spelling errors

I too was the "gun guy" while in the Army. Funny thing about it was I served in the Infantry. Everytime the guys had a question about a gun or a law they were refered to me. Even my First Sergeant asked me a couple questions.

My brother is in the national guard band and he was asked to carry to his last gig that they had in Oregon. He really doesn't talk about guns much and always conceals, so I'm not sure how he came to be known as the gun guy.

Don't know MPG's experience but IMO with a jacket the Fobus conceals OK. With just a shirt, not on everybody. DeSantis makes an IWB for the XD that will hold a MillPro just fine. The spare mag pouch on it will just barely hold a MillPro mag - you have to push a little to get it all the way in and it may make you wonder if it will stay, but it does.

BTW that Fobus w/ paddle is really nice. Great retention and keeps it high and against the body. Tilts a little forward at a nice angle. Very stable - no flopping about. Has a screw to adjust the tension against the trigger guard but I've never needed to adjust it. There is a guy on Amazon selling them for $17. Ships from Israel so it takes a while to get here. Mine came signature required, which was odd. Maybe a regulation when shipping from Israel? Whatever - it got here fine and the price was right.
