I come from a land downunder.
We have had a Gun Ban / Steal Back, several amnesties, an ammunition amendment bill, dozens of police crackdowns on firearms crimes and guess what? Nothings changed except the fact that armed criminals have been enabled and are having a field day. They know the majority of LABFO's have handed in their firearms and are left completely defenceless as this latest attack proves. We were promised police would protect the public so there is no need to arm ourselves, in fact, self defence is not a lawful reason to apply for and own any firearms.

The local police have done their bit;
"Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward"
.

I feel safer already!

Man stable after machete attack

This story was published: 6 minutes ago March 20, 2014 8:38AM

A 22-YEAR-OLD man is in a stable condition in hospital after being attacked by a group of men armed with a machete near Newcastle.

Police say they are looking for four men who forced themselves into the home of the young man on Hilldale Drive at Cameron Park at about 11pm on Wednesday.

The balaclava-clad men attacked the man with a machete, stun gun and knives, and he sustained stab wounds to his chest and back.

The group of attackers are then believed to have escaped in a car that was parked in the street.

The victim was taken to John Hunter Hospital while a 43-year-old man living at the house also sustained minor lacerations to his back during the incident.

At least one of the offenders has been described as being of Pacific Islander appearance and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward."

I've been slashed with knives before and that was bad enough. I wouldn't want to be on the end of a machete.

Something I've noticed about crime reporting here is that sometimes shootings aren't reported unless the police need witnesses or assistance. If the person is arrested at the scene it might not come up anywhere. Maybe a brief mention weeks later at best.

A friend of mine lived near a house that was shot at about a year ago. There was nothing about it on the news. I'd like to know how often that happens. I've heard rumours that the majority of Sydney shootings aren't reported.

I believe its because despite every clamp down, crack down, ammunition amendment bills, banning of various calibers of firearms, barrel lengths, pump action shotguns, safe keeping checks, licencing, registration, cooling off periods when purchasing additional firearm, proving a need, not including self defence, regular rifle club and or pistol club attendance according to the number of firearms owned, gun crime is ever increasing. All the above laws, rules and regulations have done is make it even more difficult for LAFO's to even exist.

If Fatty O'Barrell gave the police commissioner permission to publish every crime involving firearms committed in Sydney, he would be made to look like a long necked goose, which many people believe he is!
