Reading all these threads about county fairs brings to mind a question.

I know most on here are not lawyers but all opinions are welcome.

If you are wrongly arrested what are the left overs on your record?
Are your prints sent to our friends in Washington?
Does a background check come back with a dismissed charge involving a gun?

If you've actually been arrested, then until you petition the courts to have the arrest expunged it will show up to anyone requesting a criminal background check. After the arrest has been expunged, the mugshot will still continue to be online for as long as the internet thinks it's interesting.

Expungement, as long as the charges were dropped/nolo prossequi'd, is a fairly simple matter, likely costing less than $100, I have one in progress as we speak.

It's sad that you have to pay to clear your name for something you didn't do.

Do the police offer 'generic' compensation for their error or must one obtain a lawyer to extract compensation?

The police just arrest, and the level of proof needed is not very high. If you have a 42 USC 1983 claim or similar, you are free to pursue it. This can get complicated.

As well as if you are kicked out of an apartment or house for such act that you didn't do it shows up if you go to apply for another apartment or house. That you can't get rid of an you just have to explain to the next place.
