Why not do both?

well, it looks like I will be. I just spoke with the lueitenant at MPD that handles the pistol permits, and discovered theres a few other thing on my criminal history as well that are actually errors. so now I get the joy of visiting a few courts and police stations and getting copies of paperwork to prove what the correct information actually is, because I was never given any actual documentation at those times for my personal records. FML. I'll be back on here in a few months once I get it all situated

Yes, do both. Those that sit on the board are humans and understand that mistakes are made and just tell the truth and bring your evidence to your hearing.

Good luck, I am sure once you get everything straightened out you will obtain your permit.

A word to the wise - Please do a little research about your record, before you fill out the section "Have you ever been arrested" It will save you some heartache down the road.

I believe in finding the positive in any situation so here goes. If you would have not applied for the permit you would have never known about your criminal (incorrect) record. You now have the opportunity to fix what's wrong and move on. Imagine if you would have applied for a 100k job and because a silly clerical error you were denied. I look at this as a great opportunity. Sorry if its not what you wanted to hear but there is plenty to be happy about.

Get a Record Check

In these days and times one should often get you criminal record from the both the state and feds. Is is not expensive, and you will know what is on your record before you apply for that 100,000,000 a year job, and of course your pistol permit.

Congrats, good work.

Without this site severing as a community center of information, I doubt I would have my permit in hand tonight.

Saying it again for future permit applicants to read “Thank you members”. To all of you who although we don't always agree on methods we agree on helping each other get our permits.
