House Bill to Make Gun Permits Valid Across State Lines

Hello all...

I have been reading this forum for a while, but i saw something that forced me to register and post this... its new to me...

According to this bill, if passed, all states will need to recognize permits from all other states... So conceivably, someone from Pennsylvania who has a carry permit would be able to travel around New Jersey with a gun, while a resident of NJ would be prohibited from doing so in their own home state.

Normally I would say that this is what is needed to really push towards getting an open carry law in NJ, but this state is so backwards, that i have no idea if that will be the case...

This bill was introduced in either 2009 or 2010, and failed by 2 votes. We came close. This time, if it passes, you are right - NJ would be compelled to accept a concealed carry permit from an out of state resident. It probably would help to change NJ's anti-2nd Amendment philosophy. But, don't forget - The President could veto the bill, and then it would have to be overridden by a 2/3rd's majority, I think. We may not have the votes to override, but if this bill is attached to larger bill, bingo!!!

Not quite, the President could still use a line-item veto to strike just that part of the bill. As much as I like the idea of a national reciprocity bill, I think we should leave it up to the states.

It's not up to the states. The constitution is the supreme law of the land, therefore BEARING arms it the RIGHT of the people not to be INFRINGED.

Now, since the constitution is shredded and no one obeys it, **** state's rights to disarm me. Since there is no constitution lets go ahead and take what we can for bearing arms.

This bill puts more guns in the hands of the citizens on a daily basis. Is it right? No, the 2nd Amendment handles this already, but like I said the constitution has been shred by the states, so lets fire with fire and force them to let all these people carry.

The President does not have the line-item veto anymore. The Supreme Court struck it down in 1998.

No such power for the president. They are talking again about instituting it, but it was declared unconstitutional in 1998 and nothing has changed.
