Went to see the new national Treasure movie.. (Great, imo) I went OC to the movie (Farm Fresh, Books-o-Million, dollar tree first) then on to the movie AMC Hampton, The admiral and I have always used the Automated Kiosk just in the lobby to purchase tickets so I have never noticed the "Gun Buster" sign on the windows of the box-office... (The gunbuster signs are not on the entry doors or the kiosk)

Another stupid GFZ So I just untuck my shirt and go to Sheath mode. Don't ask don't tell There is no way I'm not going to be able to protect myself and family especially there...

Has anyone taken them on? AMC in Hampton? If so what was the outcome. I still intend to write a letter to the manager however.

I forgot where I Copied this letter from... but All credit is given where credit is due and if someone on this board wrote the original I thank you (Plagiarism, is whats for dinner!!!!).

To Whom It May Concern:

I recently learned that your movie theatre has the following signs on the box-office window: “No Weapons Allowed” with a picture of a Gun in a Circle with a line through it”. I find this extremely disappointing, as my family loves to come to the movies and we find your facilities very comfortable.

It saddens me to discover that you have chosen to exclude me from your facility because youfail to understand individual American or Human rights. Do you believe that a criminal wanting to rob your theater or its patrons, or commit even worse crimes like what happened in the Mall in Omaha or the Church in Colorado, cares about a sign on the window of the Box-office?

Posting such a sign serves toinformcriminals that law-abiding customers have been disarmed in your establishment. What steps are you taking to guarantee my family’s safety while watching a movie or standing in line for pop-corn, if you won’t allow me to do so?

I choose to carry a firearm to defend my family, friends, myself, and those around me, our police are reactive - arriving AFTER a crime is committed. Further, our courts have ruled the police have no duty to protectcitizens in advance of a crime, but toinvestigate and prosecute. I understand that it is my responsibility and no one else will look out for me and my family’s safety like I will. Also, I am Licensed by the State to Carry a Concealed Firearm and I hold a US Government Top Secret Clearance, yet your sign precludes even me from Exercising the most elemental of Human rights, the right to self defence.

I hope you will reconsider your policies about firearms, but until you do I will be forced to take my business elsewhere. My family has a good deal of disposable income and fortunately for us we can stay home and watch movies on our own theatre or find another Theatre that does try not restrict our rights and endanger their patrons as you have.

Edit: Remove my real name....

First one was better, I thought... It had more puzzles and moved a bit better. It was an enjoyable couple of hours out of the house, though.

I try to avoid the AMC 24 in Hampton. If you go at night there seems to be lots of shady characters there. My wife knew someone who was beaten almost to death by a big group of people there several years ago. (The group was being obnoxious and was asked to be quiet during the movie. They left then waited outside the theatre for the movie to get out - then attacked.) If you go on a weekend in the early evening there is always one or two off duty cops there providing security. But when your movie lets out later that night they usually have already gone home.

I usually try to go to the Regal theatre at Kiln Creek. The theatre itself is not as nice, but it certainly feels safer.

Does the Kiln Creek Theatre have the Gunbuster signs?

Also a while back we went to the Late Show middle of the night to see a horror flick, my family was the only White people in the movie... That of course was not an issue, however the entire audience was loud, obnoxious and unruly. At one point someone came in the movie and said "Fight in the parking lot" and the ENTIRE audience (except the 6 white people and two other non-white families) left the movie all at once!!! That may have been the same night that your wife's acquaintance was attacked. There was this young person behind us talking on his cell phone, every other word was M-F_kka or Beeeotch... sheeeesh. I finally turned around and demanded he take it outside...the admiral punched me in the ribs to shut me up...andhissed in my ear"There's a whole lot of them!!!!" anyway... that aside I will not go unarmed to Hampton AMC Ever! They can put all the signs up they want I'll still carry.

I mailed the letter aboveto AMC...

Edit Corrected an exaggeration

It happened just that way... no exaggeration this time,we where the among the Few people left in the theatre... there wasoneor two other families (non white)left in the theatre with their kidstoo as I recall.. we could watch the movie in peace for a while, then the Riff Raff came back in... and the rowdiness and rudeness began again... Just saying it the way it was...

I don't know if it is posted or not. But if I recall correctly the policy of all Regal theatres, like AMC, is to prohibit carry. But I'm going to carry where ever I go, but I really try to avoid the AMC.

I'm not from the Newport News area but my wife's family is, so we are in the area frequently. I try not to give my money to the anti businesses. So I go to the Consolodated Theatres Commonwealth 20 in Chesterfield County. They are completely ok with concealed carry.

Walk out of the movie.

I'm serious. I walked out of Beowulf, but that was because it was awful.

Walk out, and ask for a refund from the manager. If I'm paying $9+ dollars PER HEAD, I want to be able to enjoy my movie fully.

Hell, I say walk out of a movie and demand a refund because you "didn't feel safe enough to enjoy the movie."

.... Might be onto something there, actually.

Indeed, if we complain more often about the lack of civility, the coarseness, the inappropriate behavior and language at public events, and INSIST on our money back, we may actually do something to stop the low-lives from getting away with destroying the envoronment we expect when we pay money for a public event. I'm making a New Year's resolution to do this EVERY TIME. I hope you will too!

29 Dec OC/

OC at Battlefield Sam's Club.

Check out clerk : Are you a policeman?

Me: No

Clerk: Do you have a permit?

Me: You don't need one to carry openly in Virginia.

Clerk: I didn't know that.

Me: Do you need help with that heavy bag of dog food? (44lbs)

Clerk: Yes, thank you.

RT 17, Blackies, English Motors, Doodies used autoparts, Wal Mart (Yorktown) and finally, York river yacht haven (Workin on the boat... springs coming:celebrate)

The guy at doodies acted funny (Weird) I asked for the part I am looking for and he said "Noain't got none of them..." It was somehow out of character not wanting to even check for the part, it was like he wanted to get rid of me...

The guys at English motors where all friendly and very helpful even though they didn't have my part he tried to find it for me. (Thats what doodies should have done)

No issues at blackies other than he didn't have my part either.

Wal Mart had one old lady in line that gave the ole:what:but no issues beyond that.

My only bad experience in Norfolk was on Black Friday in Walmart on Tidewater Drive. Was detained, disarmed and escorted out of the store and told by LEO that Walmart did not allow OC. Have since gotten my CC and have not OC'd in that store again.

It's ashame. I didn't discover this site until after the incident. Had I been on this site before that I would have known what to say and do from all the wonderful stories here. Next encouter with LEO and I'll be better prepared.

Did you find out if it was a store manager that authorized the LEO to remove you or was he doing it from someone that called in on a cell phone?
