Dear MSSA Friends,

The 2019 Montana legislative session will begin on Monday, January 7, 2019. I will be getting more information out to you about the session over the next few days.

MSSA and the NRA typically co-host a legislative reception during the first week of the legislative session. We will be hosting such a reception on Thursday, January 10th, at the Colonial Inn in Helena, beginning at 6 PM.

You are invited. This will be a chance for you to meet elected members of the Montana Senate and the Montana House in a social setting, and to visit with them about firearms-related issues they will encounter during the 2019 legislative session, both pro-gun and anti-gun.

I'll get you more information about such issues in subsequent emails, plus I will conduct a briefing session for you at the Colonial on the afternoon of the reception, so you will be well-armed with information to have a good discussion with legislators.

Because this is an evening event and because it will be January in Montana, some of us will want to stay overnight in Helena (I definitely will). The Colonial is offering a 15% discount for our people attending this reception. If you wish to book a reservation at the Colonial for the evening of the 10th, call them at 443-2100 and mention that you will be there for the NRA/MSSA reception and that you want the "good neighbor" rate. Call soon because the Colonial gets booked out during the legislative session. (There are many other hotels and motels in Helena, but the Colonial is convenient because the reception will be there.)

Finally, the NRA/MSSA reception is probably the most well-attended (by legislators) reception of the season. That's because we are great people of pure hearts, but also because we have a drawing among attending legislators for a couple of firearms that are given away. I need to come up with a couple of new firearms for this, a pistol and a rifle. I have a mild preference for a Glock and an AR. I'm fishing among you for ideas about how MSSA can come up with these as cost effectively as possible. Ideas?

More about the legislative session and issues coming soon. I hope to see you at the reception.

Best wishes,

Dear MSSA Friends,

In a previous email I invited you to attend a legislative reception that the NRA and MSSA will co-host at the Colonial Inn in Helena on Thursday, January 10th.

One correction. The reception will begin at 5:30 PM, not the 6 PM I stated.

Plus, I will conduct a briefing session for you at the Colonial from 3 PM to 4:30 PM to inform you about the pro-gun measures MSSA will have before the Legislature, and about the anti-gun measures we expect to see introduced. I want you to be well informed about these issues for your opportunity to visit with legislators later at the reception.

There will be food and drinks at the reception, just FYI, courtesy of the NRA.

Of course, we've planned for good weather and good driving conditions, but it will be January in Montana, so we'll have to live with whatever we get. Because of that, I will plan to stay overnight in Helena and travel home the next day. That's why I have made a deal with the Colonial Inn for a special room rate for you to stay overnight too, if you call the Colonial and book a room before they're full. Call the Colonial at 443-2100 and ask for the "good neighbor" rate for MSSA on the 10th.

I hope to see you at the reception.

Best wishes,

Dear MSSA Friends,

In order for you to be prepared to participate effectively in the legislative process, once the Montana legislative session begins early in January, you need to understand the process and how you can participate.

To help you with that, I have prepared a description of the legislative process and how you can most effectively participate. That material is available at:

http://progunleaders.org/Legislative Process/

Please go to this link and study the information I've provided for you. Bookmark the link so you can refer back to it during the legislative session.

About guns it is said that you should not be satisfied with the training that comes in the box with a gun. I agree with that. I expect you probably do too.

It is the same with our political life. If you have information about how the process works and the ways you can participate, you will be MUCH more effective.

So, please, read through the link above before the legislative session starts.

Thanks for helping to keep and improve our gun rights.

Best wishes and Merry Christmas,
--
