Have you ensured that we will not be passing within 1000 feet of a school along that route. If we do, we are inviting harassment of unlicensed carriers.

I seriously doubt that that would be the case, since the 1,000 foot rule is the second attempt at a law that the USSC has already overturned for being unrelated to the commerce clause.

Besides, who is going to cite and individual for violating it?

Let me put it this way: I will NOT carry within 1000 feet of a school until I have my CHL. Period. If anyone else wants to be a test case, have at it. Not me.

So, again, has the route been checked to ensure it does not pass within 1000 feet of a school?

Early morning, 7am in front of Ernie's carryout on Broadway a few blocks south of downtown. Refer to my other topic,

Grove City in September Who's up for a OC walk?

For the details... The walk will take us through and past downtown, back to downtown from the other side of the street, then off to the east. I'm workshopping a video of the walk from bicycle. It will be posted as a link to a Youtube video. Make your own flyers if you like, or use my default that I have posted.

Out of curiosity, is there a goal for this event, or is it more of a meet and greet? I OC around central Ohio daily and have not had any issues, has something happened in Grove City that I missed in the news?

Mostly this walk will be for the benifit of the people in the area. To be honest, I have never seen anyone in central ohio open carry, those I ask don't even know what the term "open carry" means. It's my guess many assume it's against the law, or if they know it's not against the law, they lack the courage to be the first in the water for fear the water will get hot and burn them. I can only point out how much easyer it was for me in Youngstown to open carry because there were others doing it. That means alot, and it is my hope that will be the case of others.

You can tell someone something is legal, but actually showing them it's legal, really goes futher to make an impact. the goals, to make that impact, to have fun doing so, to test the waters and see if in fact there would be any issues, to celebrate our freedom. If Grove City turns out to be as accepting to open carry as Youngstown was, I might just do this every day to the point where those would be used to seeing me with my sidearm. Or sidearms, when/if I find holsters for the pair.

Thank you for clarifying. If you get up to Lewis Center (Polaris area), you'll likely see me open carrying every day. Not easy to miss, I make custom holsters and my rigs are not what you'd call inconspicuous. :)

Given the clearly received training in the Columbus cops and the FCSD (I get nothing but nods from them at best when I see them on the street), I suspect Grove City will be no exception. Might show up myself, but need to check my calendar to ensure that I have that day open and clear from family activities.

It has nothing to do with fear. I resent your implication that it does. For anyone to carry within 1000 feet of a school without a license is a federal crime. That is black-letter law. It may well be unconstitutional. IMO, it is. But my opinion don't mean squat when it comes to being sentenced to prison for violating this law and losing my right to carry forever.

So, if you do not have a verified route that does not pass within 1000 feet of a school, I will not participate.

Grove City has a list of school addresses, but no ready-made map with all the schools on it. In addition, we would need to know about any private K-12 schools in the city.

Shorter is better
Why not hang around down town and wave flags and hold signs and pass out flyers?
