Umm....how early were you planning because I think it will be a crime by then.

As is always, events at SOS are organized around factors such as available funding, weather, and participant or organizer personal schedules. The ban will be in effect in 2013, but it is not a total ban as the media is portraying, or as the legislators who wrote this bill would like to see it interpreted in contrast to what they have written.

So to answer your question, the one you didn't ask directly, is I don't believe we will be in violation of this law as written.

sounds to me like all the people talking about how they were going to open carry handguns after the ban because "there are so many exemptions in the law".

good luck with your event. make sure to take lots of video.

You know, I have never quite understood your antagonistic nature, but thankfully I'm not running a personal therapy group. I am in management of a non-profit that has a proven track record of following through on activism though, and there's numerous documentations of that if you care to look.
And as I recall, there were precious few people saying they were going to exploit the exemptions in 144, so it's not like there was an entire movement suddenly silenced by fear, or exposed as bullsheeters. Plus, it hasn't been all that long since 144 became law.
I don't mind your naysaying as much as others do here, because running a non-profit requires an inherant tolerance of apprehensive, cynical, and even contrary attitudes, for the whole effort is to educate, support, and include as many citizens as possible. But I do tend to be pretty open during the process, so please forgive me if during that I seem like I'm challenging you too much

And for the record, I was never a handgun person, so I didn't make the claims in the first place. I'm not against handguns at all, but I've always been a rifleman. I wasn't about to go buying some stuff that I'd never wear. If they passed a ban on hats, I wouldn't wear one just for spite because I'd feel out-of-place everytime I put the damn thing on

I guess my naysaying is mostly due to the fact that I consider California a lost cause.

I dont mean to be against you or anyone on this board.

In 1994 I wrote a paper for college in which I basically said the politics of California were forever democrat/liberal because of the flood of illegal aliens. For many many years I was very active in the movement to get federal and state politicians to seal the border and deport all illlegal aliens. I felt it was of vital importance to California and eventually the nation.

I even went to the border myself and for 3 years spent time with citizen groups who defended the borders themselves.

After it was made clear by the government that they wanted open borders and would spend more time stopping us than the illegal aliens I left.

In 2006 I decided it wasnt worth the fight anymore and instead of paying the highest taxes in the world, being surrounded by people who dont english and losing all of my constitutional rights, I left California and moved to another state.

When people on this board talk about or ask us to "call, email or write" our CA politicians to stop losing our rights I just laugh. It hasnt worked and it wont work.

California is a LOST CAUSE because there are too many voters in this state who dont stand for what I stand for. That simple math CANT BE OVERCOME.

I now live in a state where my tax burden is almost nill, I have more gun rights than any other state in America, everyone speaks english and is a citizen, there is no crime and I hunt and fish almost everyday.

I love it.

If you truely want to change things in California I have no idea how to do it within the confines of the law and reality.

Short of a civil war there isnt much a person can do.

The pilgrims didnt stay in Europe and try to change it. They left and made a better life for themself.

And all they did was postpone things. This country, founded by the children of pilgrims and subjects of the king, ended up back in the same position in short order. eventually they stood their ground instead of moving away.

the border and immigration is our main battle at SOS, and we're here for you on that too. We see a foreign invasion through several states, and through legal immigration too. I don't see how moving farther away from the battle front helps anything, because your ability to hit the enemy is hindered too. But if you think you've done enough or all that you can already, and you want to live out your remaining years under the best condtions you can, then I wish you the best.

I don't thave that option. Many of us don't

Not too short order. It took over 200 years.

However, I dont plan on living 200 years so I am looking to enjoy the rest of my life in the best place possible.

Just out of curiosity, how come you cant move ?

funds, obligations, family, plans to follow through on, and several other things. This is home too. Worth fighting for.

Well in that case I hope you at least live in a good part of California. I was living in Los Angeles.

I agree with Ca Patriot's statement above and I would like to add: Good luck.

Gov. Brown has also signed more of the "Dream Act" into law. Illegal alien felons (unconvicted) can now get a CA driver's license--which means they can register to vote online. Illegal aliens now have a legal pathway to vote in our elections. The members of the illegal-alien-tribe only care about their tribal system. They come from a failed culture, and they are now intent on bringing that failed tribal culture to our country. Tribalism and economic freedom don't mix. Tribalism and individual civil liberties don't mix.

Ca Patriot's conclusions are based on reality. Kalifornia is a lost cause. I will be a refugee of California in a few years.

It is no surprise that people are leaving Kalifornia in droves and it is no surprise as to why it is happening. Texas, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, and other states are filling with Kali expats. The problem is a lot of those leaving are taking the ideas that have destroyed California with them. (Not saying anybody on here has done that, just sayin). High crime, high taxes, high cost of living - more benefits to non-citizens than actual citizens, I could go on a while about the things I don't like about California. It is no surprise to me that so many are leaving so quickly. Heck, In and Out Burger, a CA staple made its new HQ in Dallas, Texas! If you think the DPRK is worth saving, good luck to you. I don't envy your task. But a state with such blatant disregard for the Constitutional Rights of its citizens does not deserve a penny of my hard earned money. This particular board has gone dead quiet since AB 144 went into effect. I would like to think that people would at least try to use the exemptions to skirt the UOC handgun ban but thus far I haven't seen or heard of anyone trying. Maybe SCOTUS will force CA and other states to be shall-issue, but I just see CA ignoring it. Good luck down there guys, but maybe its time to consider your own freedom.

Lets not forget that Brown just signed a bill that lets juveniles convicted of murder and sentenced to life to be eligable for parole after 15 years. Great, thats exactly what California needs.

I really dont care anymore.

ACMARINER - I know exactly what you are talking about and I sympathize with you. But just remember, California used to complain about all the other 50 states and their crack pots that moved into California. We got all the *****, communists, tree huggers, and every other weirdo from the other states.

Ca Patriot -- you make a good point. I guess we have good ol' route 66 to thank for that. I've heard from a lot of CA refugees that it used to be a very nice place to live. I have heard that Sacramento is complaining mightily to states that are taking a lot of CA's people and businesses. lol.

And I think Brown also just signed a law making it illegal for parents to "straighten" homosexual minors. That state just gets weirder and weirder.

Stuck...

There are a lot of us who simply can't leave, at least not anytime soon. My wife has family here in N. Cali that she can't stand to be separated from again, although we lived in NV for the first year we were together. Being that far from them ate her up. I also have a father further south who is upside down in his home thanks to the housing bubble bursting, so he can't sell and leave unless he leaves empty handed, and he's spent too many years trying to make a life down there, and is too bull headed, to surrender and walk away from it all. Given the choice, when the time comes that he passes away, I would be hard pressed NOT to sell our place and take whatever inheritance I get from him and use it to move my family to Idaho or someplace out of Cali where our civil rights are more respected.

I've not seen anything on the boards, but does anyone know if any individuals or groups have bothered to file civil liberties law suit against California over these bans?? Since the SCOTUS made their ruling that the 2nd Amendment is an individual liberty, I simply can't comprehend how ANY "infringement" to our right to keep and bear arms by either state OR federal government can be "constitutional"!! Where are all the lawsuits?? I've always known Cali to be one of the most litigious states in the US, with people tending to scream "Oh, my rights!" immediately followed by "Oh, my LAWYERS!"!!
