Thanks for the link, MamaLiberty. I've made a few posts on there, I'm on that board. I would also like to personally thank you for your contribution to open carry. You were instrumental in my decision to open carry. Even though I didn't see another person OC'ing in my time in Wyoming, I knew you were out and about this weekend with your nice .357 carried in an easily accessible location. It's great to see individuals of all age groups (I'm a young guy) exercise their rights, and I received a great reception from the owner of "The Good Place" gun store in Lander, Wy. I just got back tonight, and I already want to go back!

Bless your heart! I hope someday you can join us for good. I know I'll never live anywhere else.

Indeed I was out this weekend, made another trip to the SD WalMart. Not a peep out of anyone there, and didn't even get to hand out any of my cards!

I also went to a picnic with about 10 other FSW folks. Many of us were carrying. I suspect we were in no danger of anyone attacking us either... for a number of reasons. :D

If you ever come to the NE part of Wyoming, don't forget to stop in and visit MamaLiberty! PM from the FSW board for directions and a phone number.

Thanks a lot, MamaLiberty. I would definitely like to vist the NE part, as I've never ventured up there.

In other news, after OC'ing in the Cowboy State for a week, I just came home to AL to find that a young man was arrested at gun point by 10 officers for OC'ing in a Walmart. The sad part: OC is legal in Alabama. You can read about it in the Alabama section of this forum.

All that to say: I really appreciate the freedoms afforded to Wy. residents and visitors alike.

I've OCed in Boulder plenty of times. Total negative experiences - 1. Total positive experiences - 1. Total non-issue experiences - plenty.

Well, today was my 21st birthday. I picked up my Glock 23, loaded it, and open carried all over Cody. I went through walmart twice, a video store, Verizon, Albertsons, my fiance's work at a printers, and even in a liquor store. The only responses I got were from a guy at verizon, (hey what kind of gun is that?) to which I got to have a short conversation about open carry and the benefits for everyone it entails, and from my fiance's boss, who just said "You're carrying a GUN?" to which I simply replied "yes ma'am".

I entered another liquor store later (I'm not a drunk) and a man came over to me within seconds and asked if he could help me with anything. I said no, and he immediately responded with "I don't like you with that weapon in here". I said "Ok I'll leave it in my car..." he interrupted me with "In fact I think it's illegal to have it in here." I said "Well, I checked this morning with an officer (Which I did) who said it's only illegal if the establishment is designed for on-premise consumption. He looked at me sideways, and I could tell he was trying to figure out If I was trying to cause a problem. I said, "Tell you what I'll go to a different store" as politely as I could. I left and he didn't say anything else.

I had no LEO contact and no real confrontations, and the more places I went the easier it got to OC. Again, I want to thank everyone who has shared their views and experiences here, since those posts have done a lot in giving me the confidence and tools to actually get over the unfortunate social barrier involved with OCing for the first time (times?).

I'm proud to say that I had my first open carry experience yesterday in Riverton, Wy and again today in Lander, Wy. My family has a vacation home in Lander, and this is actually the first time I've been able to come out here (had it less than six months). I'm from Birmingham AL, where open carry will get you hassled or arrested, and it was great open carrying and knowing it's totally legal here in Wy. I open carried a Para Warthog yesterday, and today I have a Glock 20 with a backup magazine. The most I've gotten were about three long stares, but nothing more. I make sure to be extra nice and friendly, because I want to represent a positive image of open carry.
Good for you!!!

Hope you can come to stay in Wyoming. We need more good folks like you.

I carry an XD .45 ACP everywhere I go here in NE Wyoming. Even went into the police department/sheriff's office yesterday carrying. Nobody seemed to notice...

Love it!!!

Manka Cat, you need to check that again at the Wyoming government web site. Many local police employees do NOT really know the law in Wyoming.

There is NO state law about open carry anywhere, period. None, nada, not a single word.

You might be asked to leave by the property owner, but that is a different matter. The only laws that apply to open carry in Wyoming are Federal laws against carrying on Federal property, such as a post office.

Concealed carry is a different story, and I suspect your example above applies there.

Know the law. Help educate our supposed lawmen!!
