I'm looking for a very compact .45

Glock has great rep.
But the XDS is oh so sexy and small.

Anyone have experience with the XDS?
I've seen some trouble reports on the internet but was wondering if anyone on here had one.

I have an XDS. I only have 200 rounds but they have been error free. It conceals perfectly and is accurate as all get out. I can't comment on Glocks other than I didn't like the way they felt in my hand? I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

I had a chance at a friend's Glock 36. I shot it. It was okay.

But I recently put an XD(s) in my hands. I bought it immediately. Looking forward to shooting it maybe tomorrow!

If you get out there, please post a quick range report.

I did not have time for a thorough test on accuracy, but I did pop over into a shooting bay and dump a few rounds through it.

I LOVE IT.

VERY comfortable under fire; I'm actually wondering how it can be so. I fired one Federal Hydra-Shok and then several rounds of mil-spec hardball.

I will test more this week. I promise. Targets and everything!

I think the grip angle is making the difference for me. The Glocks are okay in the 17 and 19 frame, as long as I make a conscientious effort to push the muzzle down, but the diminutive 36 wasn't as comfortable doing so.

The XD(s) .45 is the most perfect gun of this size I've ever laid my hands on. I've not shot the little Kahr .45's, though, but I do have their K9, K40, and CW40. The .40 is not my favorite round, especially in a tiny gun.

Interestingly, the holster that comes with this XD(s) says on the back that it fits the XD(s) in .45, .40, and 9mm. I guess we can expect more calibers in the future.

Sweet. A lot of reviews on how accurate it is.
Mainly I'm curious about function. Many complaints about light and off center strikes due to not fully in battery. Also slide not staying open on last round.

Sounds like you've got a good one. Nice!

A little late it appears. I have only had one fail to fire out of my XDS in 200 or so tounds but i believe that was just the ammo since i had one with my 9mm as well. All in all a good gun.

What did the primer look like? Light strike? Off centered?

It was definitely ammo related. Old box of reloads I have had floating around for who knows how long... And who knows how old they were when I got them!

Did you determine the cause? This is just as likely to be ammo related, almost assuredly if you know for certain that the gun was fully in battery.

I personally have not had any gun related fail to fires with the XDS. That being said, a gentleman I work with bought one and could not cycle a full magazine through the weapon with out a failure. Whether this was operator error, ammo related, or an issue with manufacturing I do not know.

The single stack Glock 36 is a great weapon, but I would recommend taking the Glock 30sf out for a test drive before you make a decision on which pistol to buy. Higher magazine capacity over the 36, with not that much increase in overall width of the pistol. Both the 30sf and 36 make for great CC pistols. For OC, the 21sf is the one.

Good luck.

Do a search for XDs problems. They tend to fire slightly out of battery. Very concerning. Lots of FTF with a firing pin striking way off center.
