Of the clips I've watched, after the pistol discharges the agent simply reinserts it into his waistband (holster?), smiles and waves his arms and walks off. We don't see what he did 5 seconds later but it appears that he left the immediate area without checking to see if anyone had been hit. That act must violate some legal standard?

At the very least: Know where every round goes - it is your responsibility.

Class 4 felony, plea down to a misdemeanor...then his lawyer will try to get a jury to find him not guilty because the aggressor was the dude who got shot. The FBI guy was not dancing, he was doing a ninja back flip evasive maneuver to avoid being assaulted by a drunk bar patron. The pistol did not fall out unintentionally, it was removed from the holster as part of the ninja back flip. He had mere tenths of a second to get a shot off to save innocent bar patrons and himself. The dude is a hero...no?

According to the BBC,

The statement added that Bishop was no longer employed by the FBI.

A former FBI agent who accidentally shot a man while performing a backflip in a Denver bar has avoided jail after agreeing to a plea deal.

Chase Bishop, 30, admitted third-degree assault and was sentenced to two years unsupervised probation.

Bishop was off-duty when he was filmed dropping his gun while dancing last June. As he picked the weapon up it went off.
Video of the incident went viral on social media and led to his arrest.

"We believe that this agreement strikes an appropriate balance of seeking justice for the victim and ensuring that this type of incident does not happen again," District Attorney Beth McCann said in a statement. Unquote.

https://www.omalleylawoffice.com/Crime-Definitions/Assault-in-the-Third-Degree-Definition.shtml states
(3) Assault in the third degree is a class 1 misdemeanor and is an extraordinary risk crime that is subject to the modified sentencing range specified in section 18-1.3-501 (3).

JQCitizen would making little rocks out of big ones and lost our firearm privileges.

Sidebar, wonder who paid the individual’s medical and appropriate compensation AND if the back flip idiot was allowed to retire with full pension like FL deputy Peterson?

Let's see how accurate your predictions are from yesterday's news media update:

- pleaded guilty to third degree assault
- spared jail
- two years probation
- fined $1,200 (probably just enough to cover court costs)
- ordered to pay compensation to the victim
- FBI spokesperson declined to say if he would continue to work at the agency
- has been given permission to travel and carry a gun (armed on and off duty) so he can continue to work while the case proceeds

Note: Paying compensation is the real punishment as it's certainly in the tens of thousands of dollars and may run beyond $100,000

The victim, meanwhile:
- lost his job
- may never be able to run again
- doesn't hold a personal grudge against Bishop
- didn't think he deserved to spend years in jail
- hoped Bishop would not be allowed to own a gun for a "long time"

Looks like this is the verdict in the criminal trial. I wonder if there will be a civil lawsuit against the guy. Judging by his complaints, he's primed for it. I hope not. I've never liked that idea. In fact, in many countries, that's not allowed.

Ignore is such a waste as it provides folk the opportunity to fulfill daddy's adage, 'tis better to be thought a fool than to post and convince everyone your status on a very public forum.

Your a mean one mister Mr. Grinch

Violating about three cardinal rules of carry:

1. You're carrying a deadly weapon, so no horsing around.

2. Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to destroy the target at which you're aiming.

3. Use a Level 2 retention holster or better

Any one of these three cardinal rules, if followed, would have prevented this debacle.
Maybe they forgot to teach that part in the ACADEMY ! ROFL
