Hi Folks

I just read on another board that NY opened a fake gun shop to trap/embarrass gun buyers..

I can't paste and post the article, so if some savvy computer person could find the article and post it here, should make for interesting topic... Only in an anti 2A state like NY could this occur, I trust NJ will soon follow.

TIA

Best regards

CCJ

Yep - previously reported. Fake gun store was only open for two days.

Wonder what laws they broke in the process.

Well, besides the egregious lack of trigger and muzzle discipline:
Transfer of a firearm ("customers" didn't know they were replicas)
Possession of super-scary, tactical-assault-clip-magazine AK 15 rifles with shoulder things that go up
THINKING of aforementioned rifle
SAYING the words "gun", "Second Amendment", "protect myself"...

Anyone else think of something that might be illegal there?

The guns do not look like replicas to me - seem to be the real deal.

Did they have a business license, proper inspections before opening? An FFL?

Did they commit fraud by offering for sale that which they had no intention of selling?
This latter point is dependent on the "buyers" not just being actors.

The New York State Rifle and Pistol Association is calling upon state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to investigate the producer of the video for potential violations of state and local laws.

“First off, the firearms and accessories hanging in the background do not appear to comply with either New York City law or the so-called SAFE Act,” said NYSRPA President Thomas King in a statement.

“Second, it felony violation of the Sullivan Act for a person to posses a handgun anywhere in New York without a license. The video clearly shows individual ‘customers’ handling various handguns and doing so in an unsafe manner,” King said.
