Becuase the mainstream media, the elected representatives to congress and the senators all decree opposite to what the Constitution says, and the masses blindly "trust" them, just like the masses that say "just do what the police officer says, he's the law" or "show some respect to the police officer, he's got a tough job and just wants to go home at night."

Contrary to popular misconception, while there are only two distinct and formidible parties in these United States of America, more people are "Independents" than belong to either party: "According to the Gallup polling firm, the identity that people choose most often is actually "independent" — not Democratic or Republican. In 2017, 42% of Americans chose this label" (Source). "However, three-quarters of these "independents" admit, when asked, that they lean toward favoring the Democratic or Republican Party."

Thus, 42% x (1-75%) = 10.5%. As the article well notes: "Only about 10% of Americans are what we call "pure independents" — that is, people who identify as independents and claim not to favor either of the two major parties."

Even so, while Independents may indeed lean towards one party or the other, most of them I've met are more adept than average in looking at matters objectively. That's one of the reasons they register as independents in the first place.

Regardless, there are more independents than there are people who belong to either party, and that's saying something.

The question is, "What does that say?"

I think it says roughly two-thirds of independents and one-third of party members do not just "blindly 'trust' them" (MM, Reps, Sens).

Crunch the numbers and that comes to about 47% of Americans who aren't as trusting as you claim the masses to be.

The problem is, that means 53% of them are, and yes, that's indeed a problem!

This is why people don't know because they don't care. If they knew, would there be any support for AOC??? no. not at all. but they LOOOVE the idea of socialism. They love the idea of anything that "sounds good" ignorantly missing the fact that the only reason they are in position to contemplate these ideas is due to our Constitutional Republic.

The Replies section on FoxNews (understandably) and Yahoo News (surprisingly) are strongly slanted against AOC. This tells me far more people are awake than are still HUA.

Ah the numbers dance yet again...see if you can find the ball under the cups...here let me show you how it works...

since9, your source from jan 2017 gallup article is using telephonic survey of 13.5k citizens, who may or may not make up the 59% of those who voted in 2016, remembering of course not every US citizen > 18 is eligible to vote!

So to answer your question...means garbage in nonsense out, or lies, darn lies, or statistics!

Noticed since9 you did not address the validity of the data of 13k citizens who answered their telephones [cells or home phones?] after being ‘randomly selected’ from across the 50 states [how were those ‘random’ interviewees selected anyway? Voting records? Psrty records? NRA/SAF/JFPO membership rolls?]

So was there caveats stating the interviewees were taking randomly and equally from the states or were only 15 citizens interviewed in CA and 400 in NJ.

Nor did I notice anywhere anything about repeatably nor peer reviewed data?

Finally, since9, 133+/-M citizens voted, yet in your numerology reality, 13K is a ‘fair’ representative sampling size to ‘unequivocally’ state this is the truth!

Nawll, sticking with my theoretical perspectives ~ garbage in, BS & hyperbole nonsense out! [L, DL, & S]

Sorry, Since9, not sure the organizational statistical pedagogy expertise of the Kahn Academy to be presented on you tube vignettes would meet ANY educational institute(s) credentialed standard.

From Kahn’s content specialist listing for Math from the top...
Mike earned a M.Ed. in Secondary Education and spent 11 years teaching theatre and communication classes in Arkansas and Massachusetts before turning his attention to the Internet .

After writing his undergraduate thesis at Penn on the struggles and barriers that students at West Philadelphia High School faced in successfully completing high school and going on to college,

Lisa is a K-8 Math Specialist

Per used to teach math to high-school students in Chicago Public Schools.

After graduating from Columbia University with a Film Studies degree, Ben remembered that his true passion was for mathematics.

Jared graduated from Michigan Technological University with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. While obtaining my degree, I enjoyed working as a tutor for students in physics and grading papers for calculus classes.

Lori is a university instructor in Louisiana. For the past 5 years, she's taught and coordinated freshman-level college algebra and precalculus courses.

And the list goes on...

Too bad P.T. didn’t say it...cuz it appears true...

PS: just saw this precious match content specialist’s blurb...

Cloud grew up in Los Angeles, California. After a stint in Minneapolis, Minnesota researching solar cells, he realized that it gets cold there and moved back to the warmth.

Now this Kahn math specialist i’m sure is quite attuned to reality as well as adept at teach math skills, especially Stats.

They do and are routinely used throughout both regionally and nationally accredited institutions of higher learning i.e. colleges and universities as an addendum to their in-house curricula.

"From Kahn’s content specialist listing..."

The Genetic Fallacy refers to a type of logical fallacy in which an argument is evaluated on the basis of where it comes from. Generally, arguments stand or fall on their own merits and not on those of their sources."

Solus, you've been on ignore for more than a year, and spot-checking like I've done today confirms you violate so many basic precepts of cordial discussion that I see absolutely zero grounds to change that.

Back on ignore.

For future reference, I like to stick to the Counterargument level and above. Responses "stating the opposing case with little or no supporting evidence" are mere opinions, and genetic fallacies are merely insults to one's intelligence.

I subscribe to the "path of least resistance" where poll responses are concerned. There are so many independents because respondents told a pollster that they are. Evidence? Trump got elected. The polls prior to his election, even on the election day? These days, self identifying as a D (liberal) or R (ostensibly a conservative), especially a R, gets one in some pretty tricky situations. Self identifying as a independent is the path of least resistance. Not sure why folks worry about what a poll taker thinks of them. Anyway, if the poll is no going the pollsters way they will massage the numbers to get the desired result. Like, having 9.7% more liberals respond than conservatives or independents.

Political polls are no more than voodoo-bush-league-psychout-stuff. But, I have elaborated on polls=statistical analysis  before.

Edit to add: Soon the liberals (Ds) will not excuse independents as impartial. If you aint with the liberals you are against them.

Job well done Since9, by the way, Paul might come a knocking for failing to appropriately attribute his work...

I subscribe to the "path of least resistance" where poll responses are concerned.

I find most polls conducted strictly by the media themselves are both tainted with bias and improperly conducted. Even when they subcontract with a reputable firm, the media still has huge input into crafting the questions, which still introduces serious bias.

I've found most of Pew Research's efforts to be very good.

There are so many independents because respondents told a pollster that they are.

Actually, the percentage distribution of voters who are registered Democrat, Independent and Republican comes from voter registration rolls mensurated with DMV records. It's quite accurate.

Evidence? Trump got elected. The polls prior to his election, even on the election day?

Those were media polls. Quite biased and improperly done. Personally, I think the entire Hillary Hysteria was feeding in on itself like a black hole deposited in the navel of a troll. :)

These days, self identifying as a D (liberal) or R (ostensibly a conservative), especially a R, gets one in some pretty tricky situations. Self identifying as a independent is the path of least resistance. Not sure why folks worry about what a poll taker thinks of them.

I think it's a habit one develops in the working world. I had a friend who told me, "I'm just middle of the road, fairly evenly balanced" when I asked what he thought of the then-current political situation. He sounded as if he were answered a job interview question. It was all I could do to keep from laughing.

Anyway, if the poll is no going the pollsters way they will massage the numbers to get the desired result. Like, having 9.7% more liberals respond than conservatives or independents.

That's one of the many ways media polls get botched.

Political polls are no more than voodoo-bush-league-psychout-stuff.

That depends entirely on who is conducting the poll.

But, I have elaborated on polls=statistical analysis  before.

Aye. We both have. :)

Edit to add: Soon the liberals (Ds) will not excuse independents as impartial. If you aint with the liberals you are against them.

Sounds like the Nazis. If you didn't "Sieg Heil!" they'd haul you in for questioning.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is what the “Responding to Tone” level looks like.

And, yes, folks, the irony that so is this post is not lost on me.
