While putz'g in Win 10 Settings to change bkgnd color i pop'd in to see what privacy settings were set at:
1. General ~ Discovered several 'diagnostic data" items got switched on, prob from last update which were turned off and deleted diagnostic data and turned off Feedback Frequency.

Apps Permission
2. Location ~ ensured location service was still off and cleared history on this device as well as ensured apps access to my location are all off.

2b. Assured other permissions were off.

2c. Found all of my apps were set to run in the background ~ turned them off individually then turned off the main permission.

tis a great program, but MS as my 'big brother' overseer isn't what i want.

if you haven't been out into this part of the MS realm...might wish to look around to assure your life is good.

make sure you have a viable anti virus program, or two, covering your other MS products, especially outlook, and capable of doing 'deep scans' of your machine.

Since 1993, I have used (at work) Win. 3.11 for Workgroups and Win. 95. They let me have an old terminal with no HD or OS and only a 25 mhz CPU and I started on that with 3.1 and 1 mb RAM (30 pin SIMMs). A year later, I found another identical computer they were going to "recycle" and I took its RAM and raised mine to 32 mb. The company that put the HD and 3.1 OS in for me then added a "doubler" and got that CPU up to 66 mHz. Two years later, I got a new Win. 98 system and ran that until I got an XP in 2003. Now I'm using Win. 7 and, from what I have read and heard, my next OS will be some form of Linux. I will never go to 8 or 10, mainly because of some of the things found in the EULA of 10 by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (eff.org) that showed MS is spying on our hard drives as much, if not more than, the NSA.

Windows 10 is a flaming pile of junk. Of all the machines I've deployed with it, the only ones that never develop issues of some sort eventually are the ones that have never gotten updates of any kind... I dealt with it on my main machine for a while until I got tired of its amnesia and its inability to connect to anything via remote desktop for a random amount of time after a reboot. Windows 7 and 8/8.1 machines are all rock solid.

Windows 8/8.1 really aren't that bad - they got a bad rap because they were geared towards tablets/touch screens, and are a bit clunky if using a mouse and keyboard, but otherwise, they're not horrible. It would be really nice if ReactOS would actually go somewhere, but given the time it's been being 'worked on', I don't see it going anywhere, sadly.
