As of Saturday I am not all that convinced Starbucks was ever all that OC-friendly.

Of course at least in CT, even if they do start serving alcohol we will still be able to carry there...

I understand that you had a bad experience in that Starbucks, but if that employee was going against corporate policy and is disciplined for his actions against policy, then the blame rests solely on him and not on the corporation. Every corporation is going to have it's bad employees.

Every corporation is responsible for its employee's actions as well.

Never let your guard down, even in a 'safe' place like Starbucks.

I believe there is a $10K cost for a liquor license in WI. They would need to spend $10K per location.

My bet is they'll try this in a few states to see how it goes, won't happen here for at least a year or two and by that time it WON'T matter.

Absent a citation in Wisc. Stats. law to the contrary, that is not usually so.

I've heard that some licenses are very expensive. Is that true?

It depends. Fees are set by local municipalities, with limits set by state law. Certain "Class B" liquor licenses are considered "Reserve Licenses" and are subject to a one-time fee of not less than $10,000. "Class B" liquor licenses are restricted by a population based quota.

Quit putting the cart before the horse. This will NOT affect us here in WI for some time. They are going to do it on a trial basis in some of the big cities first.

Just relax. We don't have to worry about it today.

Right now we need to concentrate on the ELECTION!

It depends on the laws. You can carry and drink in some states. You can carry in even more states without drinking. WI could possibly give us more freedom in the future.

I honestly don't think Starbucks is going to be a big drinking area. This would hurt the start up businesses who use it as a place to meet clients and conduct business.

Consider the liability following such an invitation enabled by an entity with no membership control.

Who would be liable for an incident involving an openly carried weapon? Who would be liable for an incident involving a weapon openly carried by a member of the sponsor of the signage?

Exactly. Starbucks has stayed neutral. If they have a liquor license, they would have to renounce neutrality and invite us in. I do not believe they will do that.

So, we need the law changed.
