Sorry but my job is my and my family's well being. No way on Earth would I jeopardize it because I disagree with a company policy (or in this case, a law that I'm supposed to enforce).

This was precisely the attitude of many Germans as they watched their neighbors being marched of in Nazi Germany. Some of whom were later interned themselves. I can understand the desire behind your statement, but the reality is that it is an intensely dangerous manner of thought for yourself, your family, and for mankind.

Also, it is a pointless statement anyway because absolutely no police officer in NY will ever be fired, or even reprimanded, for failing to enforce this "law".

The RAS was established when the drivers license was found to be expired or suspended.

However the minute the officer informed the citizen that his license was expired/suspended, then the citizen should of requested counsel and invoked all his rights.

Assumptions here: Officer runs a tag on a vehicle, the looks to the DL info on the registered owner of the vehicle. Upon discovering that the RO of the vehicle does not have a valid license a stop of the vehicle is initiated. The the operator of the vehicle is determined to be the RO of the vehicle and has no valid DL.... THEN,

I agree that RAS was established to justify the stop upon finding the driver's license was suspended/expired. But just where is the RAS that an otherwise lawfully possessed firearm had too many rounds contained within the magazine?--- certainly none can be established based upon not having a valid drivers license. And that is ONE of the reasons the DA has declined to prosecute on that charge in my opinion.

I concur it is ONE of the reasons.

SNIP How is it that the state that is home to the statue of liberty, has no liberty.

Oh, that's easy. Just look into who they sent to the constitutional convention, and what he did after that. Alexander Hamilton (spit). If I recall, the other two delegates quit or never made it to the constitutional convention.

He wanted a hiearchical society just like England. He told whoppers in the Federalist Papers that he wrote. He had connections to banking interests in NY.

He helped wreck the necessary and proper clause of the new constitution. He was Washington's Secretary of the Treasury. When a bill establishing a bank came up, Washington consulted both Hamilton and his Secretary of State, Thomas Jefferson about whether to sign the bill into law. Jefferson pointed out that necessary was defined as essential, cannot be done without, and that while it might be useful or helpful to have a central bank, it was not essential--a short, sweet memo. Hamilton wrote a 14 page reply. Washington signed the bill.

Helped establish the implied powers doctrine that has been used to stretch the constitution all out of shape.

Was apparently in on the conspiracy to morph the convention to tune up the Articles of Confederation into a convention to write a new scheme of government. He wrote a letter to Washington in late winter or early spring of '87 telling Washington the convention would change. Meanwhile, lots of other delegates were under the impression they were traveling to Philly to tune up the Articles of Confederation. In fact, a number of delegates quit the convention early in protest saying they were not empowered to trash the Articles and write a new scheme by their legislatures at home.

No wonder New York is so screwed up. Look who they sent to improve the Articles of Confederation.
