Saw a Unicorn the other day at the Wood Grill...,

"mature" looking gentleman, close cropped white hair, black shirt, had at least two young'uns (possibly grandkids), going into the restaurant, had a semi in a black holster on right side, around 6:15ish Monday evening, the 20th. Just caught a glimpse as they were entering and we were started pulling out of the parking lot. Was that you?

^ Wasn't me.

Too many places to list.

After leaving the C'ville city council meeting (I sat next to the two LEO's in back) I had an interesting conversation with a few of the city's downtown dwellers.
Let's just say, they starting to take an interest in me but were soon discouraged from their endeavors.

The Charlottesville City Council has convinced me I should spend my money in other locales after their recent vote.

Way too many places to list since my last posting.

Did notice a 20 something male (out with his family) OC'ing what appeared to be a S&W Sheild in his right rear pocket in a soft (flimsy) leather clip holster while eating with my kids at Wood fire Grill yesterday.
One of the few times I wish I carried a camera.

No one seemed to notice my Coonan.

Out and about all over the area with no issues (as it should be).

Saw a 60something man OC'ing a Keltec PMR30 @ Foodlion.

Saw a 20something guy with his (Dad?) @ Field/Stream, couldn't tell what gun he was OC'ing but I could tell it was in a nylon holster.

I OCed this morning at the Memorial Day remembrance ceremony at the Confederate Cemetery on the UVa grounds.

Aside from a private citizen who thought it appropriate to text a mutual acquaintance of his and my wife's to ask her to text my wife to ask her to tell me my gun was illegal and that I was going to be arrested, it was an uneventful morning.

... and yes, the chain of events above confuses me too.

Charlottesville meet-n-greets

I'm organizing a monthly meetup for anyone who practices or is interested in open carry, or carry in general. All are welcome who are respectful of one another.

Our next breakfast will be at 10:00am on July 15th, 2017, at Cavalier Diner. It's at the intersection of 29 and 250, across the street from Bodo's (map).

If you have any questions I can be reached here, or by email at lyndsy@lyndsysimon.com. I'd appreciate an RSVP, but I'll be there whether or not anyone else shows up so don't let that stop you.

I made a new friend.
We had a great conversation, too bad no one else joined us.

Thanks for playing host.

I've been out of pocket on this site for a while, but I have been meaning to set up a monthly breakfast in Charlottesville. I have a location already confirmed (Cavalier Diner), but haven't moved yet to make it happen.

Let's plan on having it June 3, at 9am. I can be reached here, or by email at lyndsy@lyndsysimon.com. I'd appreciate an RSVP, but I'll be there whether or not anyone else shows up so don't let that stop you.

Way too many places to list , as usual. :D The only new place was Performance Bicycle.

I spotted 3 OC'ers since my last posting in this thread.
The first was a 20 something male, at Harris Teeter the other was 30 something male at the Giant on Pan Tops, the third was 50ish lady at the Louisa Walmart.

I also had a great time; it was very nice to meet you :)

I plan to keep holding these as my schedule allows; I really believe that there are a lot more of us here in central Virginia than it seems living in the blue polka dot that is Charlottesville.

Next time I plan to advertise in other communities as well to see if I can't drum up some interest. I'm be especially interested in reaching out to people who don't OC due to lack of knowledge of confidence. I've heard several stories now from people that tell me they'd like to carry but are afraid to take that "first step" in public. Maybe going out with a group would provide a gentle introduction.

No worries here - I actually expected to be eating alone last time, and was pleasantly surprised when Marco showed up.

BTW - I can't seem to change the title of this thread. I tried editing my original post, but it didn't update the thread's title. Is there any way for me to keep it updated going forward? If not, would you be able to change the title to "Charlottesville Carry Breakfast" for me, and I'll just keep the first post updated moving forward?

Just noted this and was wondering-- did you go back down the chain of texters and advise the originator that-- No its not illegal and always gotta be ready for Zombies.

It would be fun but they might start an insanity proceeding against you.

My wife figured out who it was immediately and confronted them about it. They insisted that I was going to be arrested, and as I understand it the conversation ended with my wife telling him to go ahead and call it in if he was so certain of himself.

I didn't actually hear about it until the conversation was over.

To do that you need to go to the advance function.

I'll change it for you though.

Nothing exciting but consistent

It's been a good while since I've visited the site. For the last few years I've been consistently hitting Sam's on 29, Giant on Pantops, TJ's on 29/Rio. I occasionally go out with work peeps to Bonefish and Blue Ridge Cafe, with the most recent outing this past Friday at Riverside North. I can't tell if people just don't notice or just don't react.
