Brian Bensimon, SCC’s southwest regional director, received a voicemail from the documentary’s producer, Joanne Elgart Jennings, stating she was interested in “open carry on the UT campus” and wanted to talk to “gun owners who can make the case that civilians who are trained and armed can assist law enforcement.”

I'm sorry, but I seemed to have missed the memo where this became a priority for anyone that carries. Also, I find Ana Lopez's comment at the 1:50 mark of the trailer to be hilarious in the face of the fact that she's obviously either brainwashed by, or willingly, a libtard. She also lies outright at the 3:40 mark. A "mass school shooting" was committed by Verlin H. Spencer at Pasadena Junior High in 1940. Five dead and two wounded. School shootings have happened going all the way back to at least 1764, when three Native Americans killed the teacher and nine students at the Enoch Brown school in PA. And lets not forget the worst of them all, the Bath Disaster of 1927 in Michigan. Forty-four killed and another fifty-eight wounded.

Texas state law is only CC on campus. In shadow of UT Tower where Whitman shot/killed so many unarmed citizens (not first school mass shooting).

I thought armed PhD student made a compelling advocate. Anti-gun girl should have been asked why she wanted to make other citizens defenseless? Women studies prof should have been asked how she knew anyone was CCing - did she ask them to agree not to come armed to 'her' sanctified classroom?

Old enough to hold a gun, old enough to own and carry a gun.

This would be based on the era of the country's founding documents.

I do agree with you that our Founding Fathers did indeed include teens and perhaps younger persons in their "able-bodied person" references when they wrote letters to one another and made speeches concerning our right to keep and bear arms. Indeed, from what I recall, our founding documents do not distinguish between age when referring to "people" or "citizens."

I think the "age of majority" is a more recent construct.

In our currently litigious society, however, person's younger than 18 do not have legal authority to make contracts, and for good reason: Many aren't mature enough below that age to do so. With rare exception, there's an age of majority in most countries, and most of the westernized countries it ranges between about 16 and 21.

This does not at all, however, mean that those younger than 18 can't be responsible. Many are. Sadly, many aren't.

PBS is another entitlement program for liberals and their liberal agenda. Please recall that PBS would not be able to compete in the realm of ideas on the media landscape without a great deal of tax payer backed government financial support.

Though, Austin City Limits is one program that is worthy of my tax dollars.

helpful... hummm from your next to your favorite wiki authoritative source: http://volokh.com/2012/09/17/were-a...of-we-the-people-at-the-time-of-the-founding/
quote:
Earlier in the opinion, (dissent in Dred Scott v. Sandford, Curtis explained why citizens of states at the time of the Founding were legally citizens of the United States as well, and described the relevant laws of the five states he refers to: New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, and (most surprising) the southern state of North Carolina.

None of this negates the terrible reality that the vast majority of African-Americans in 1787 were slaves, and as such clearly were excluded from political participation and otherwise severely oppressed. Even free blacks were also subjected to extensive official discrimination, including exclusion from the franchise in several states.

unquote.

my statement stands...
