Bad **** does happen. Iraqi Freedom, we took a **** load of Marines over on the Tarawa, and the only one hit was young Marine in flt deck triage. Someone forget to download a .50 on thier H-46, it went off. He lived but lost his leg!

We are told this happened at a 10 PM "post-training meeting", and guns were being cleaned at the same time as this meeting.

In other words, what we are being told is total ********.

I've also heard this was a revolver. I am a big fan of some of the tactical advantages of revolvers, but that just gives me more pause that this was not a department weapon, and this was not a "post-training meeting."

I also wager that we will hear nothing about toxicology reports.

i guess cops are the only ones allowed to have an accidental discharge. sounds like someones father had an accidental discharge to spawn an idiot like this.

No such things as accidents, this was a negligent discharge. :banghead:

Actually, it was intentional. Some cop intentionally neglected to check his gat.

Back in the good ol' days, we had at least one MP per month, Army-wide, have a negligent discharge with a .45. This usually occurred while clearing the weapon and went something like this:

1. Rack slide to eject round in chamber.
2. Eject magazine.
3. Pull trigger.
4. Oh, s..t!!

If luck was with them, the only injury was to the floor, wall, or ceiling. In far too many instances, luck was not with them and they either seriously wounded or killed themselves or a fellow MP.

If the weapon in this instance was a semi-automatic, I would suspect that the clearing sequence I posted above was followed.
