Thanks, Brian. I know you spend some time in Ky., but this law will not do much for either of us. It still gives me a feeling of FREEDOM and PRIDE in my home state. Silly, I know but I don't care. I can't help but remember how good it felt to get my first CCDW in 1996. This is better.

Technically all KY did was repeal a license/privilege tax for its citizens. KY did, however, maintain the privilege tax for the benefit of its citizens to be able to partake in the privilege of CCing in other states.

Tis the perception of a win that’s important not the reality, eh Kentuckians?

Jealousy is such an ugly thing and resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.
Yes it is, but that has nothing to do with the fact that all the law did was set aside a tax. Not one law was repealed effecting where you can carry concealed. As a matter of fact open carrying still provides more leeway as to where you can carry versus CC. It is just a fact.

Hummm...North Carolinian citizens don’t need firearm training, registering of firearms, to OC? Yes citizens need to pay 5$ for a one time use pistol purchase permit from their local county sheriff with qualifies under the ATF’s Brady exemption list - so no mandated FBI NICS background ck.

[sidebar - NC’s CC privilege card has the same ATF Brady exemption capability tho more costly 50>80$ training & 80$ Sheriff’s CC processing FEE.

NC legislators have more important work to do...trying to get their gerrymandering activities correct, squabbling about trans use of restrooms, oh latest - allowing beer at college sporting events.

One can can by statute cc anywhere they can oc here. No state criminal charge attached to carrying in a,prohibited place. Denial of entry or removal from the prohibited place is about as bad as it gets in ky.

But you are right in the only thing that changed is you don't need to pay to cc.

Most didn't get the stupid permit and carried anyway unless they traveled out of state alot.

I have a ccdw that hasn't expired yet. But why anyone would feel good about getting one baffles me.

OC for ME, i suspect Ghost1958 isn’t allowed to leave the state... some federal mandate leveed by LESO ~ kinda like being in protective custody or witness protection, as such must be kept close to home at all times or is it like being a parolee...i do get those concepts confused at times:eek:.

‘Sides why on earth would anyone want to leave the great Bluegrass state ~ for any reason?

...if ya never leave KY...no problem, if ya do...

Possibly. But I've had a ccdw, since they came out.
From the day I got one until now I was asked by LE exactly one time , out of state if I had one.

In all those years the stupid thing has, been in my wallet, thru most of the lower 48 , unseen and never asked for.

I could have carried all those years, in all those states without one.

It was and is simply a revenue generator, and method used so KY could pass some gun regulation which they could not do without it.

I renewed because I live so close to the Tennessee line that me and my family go there from time to time. Lafayette, tn. has a burger king, k.f.c. and krystals, at only 13 miles away, I would have to go 40 miles into Kentucky to get those as Monroe county don't have much. Plus Lafayette's wal mart store is bigger than Tompkinsville's store and my wife likes that.
