Committee Hearing On Portantino's Bill Today Was A Misnomer For Opposition

I attended the Portantino bill hearing to day at the capitol, and it was only a going-through-the-motions event. They brought in the brady bunch and some false mouthpiece police sock puppets to give the scary what-will-be propaganda. Opposition was there, but were silenced. We were only allowed to identitfy ourselves and state a support or oppose. I argued for time, after all; it is a HEARING, and public comment is allowed. However that whiny little soup-nazi, Ammiano, kept interrrupting and demanded I comment only the way he wanted.
I left immediately, and Sam Parades motioned me to stay until after he was allowed his few seconds of public input. I'm thoroughly disgusted with the process as it is being administered by these elitist control freaks. I've been a supporter of the process as well as an active participant for a long time, but no more. It's a waste of time to attend them if all we are allowed is to shake our heads yes or no in favor of one side or the other, when those acting as mouthpeices for each side are still hand picked by those in the committee. It's farcical.

This is no surprise.

We live in a police state where the statists will pass any legislation under the pretense that the public safety (read 'security') must be regulated and assured by prohibiting certain activities (read 'liberty'). All three divisions of power are dominated by a single party whose incestuous relationship with public servants will ensure their ongoing promotion of government dependence and disarmament.

These officials know that they are opposed by a great number of constituents and not only do they not care what we think, they take great pride and joy in silencing us. Regardless of how hopeless participation in the process appears to be, we have an obligation to take any reasonable action to stalemate or refuse their machinations against liberty. By failing to show up, we only make their job all the more trouble-free.

Thank you for taking the time to actually go to the Capitol to participate in the process. I only wish I could have gone myself.

Very well stated and I concur!

Condition Three,

Thanks. 1A applies to progressive thought only. All other views belong to sinners; progressivism is a theology.

Nuff-said!

How does one find out about when these meeting happen and location? I'm willing to travel to Sac if thats where it's at.

They are posted in the legislative daily file, but....you need to be religious about reading it...every week at least. I usually post pertinent meetings to our agenda on the saveourstate forum.

Just to offer some comparison to how committees work in other states, in Oregon there was a committee hearing for a bill that would have banned CHL holders from carrying on school grounds and in school buildings. The committee opened the session by stating the bill would not be going forward and apologized to all those that had come. Despite the fact that the bill was dead on arrival, they still listened to everybody give their comments. There was no "line up here if you support, line up here is you do not" silliness like California has been doing for some time.

It might behoove Californians to investigate the committee rules to see how public comments should work. The committee members may very well be forced to listen to public comment for as long as the public wishes to give it. Just an idea.

I went through the committee rules just after this happened and found nothing. The issue seems to have been addressed by california code, which it seems Ammiano violated. I've been trying to find a procedure to lodge a complaint, but alas...this is California, and it seems you have to sue
