I saw this yesterday too. Good for her. Glad she can get her life back now. I just cant believe the LEO didnt have the common sense to inform her of the violation and escort her back across state lines.

Good for her. now the bigger question is does the legislature have the momentum, and Christie have the gonads to change NJ's overly restrictive gun laws? I for one will never set foot in NJ until and if it indeed changes.

SNIP I just cant believe the LEO didnt have the common sense...

Oh, sure he did. He just applied his intelligence to serving himself, his career, and the state, rather than protecting the public. It doesn't take an advanced degree in physics to understand the issues in involved. The cop knew what he was doing.

Cops are in the business of arrests. A shoe salesman doesn't give away shoes. Why would a cop give up an opportunity for an arrest?

Might it be that Christie is waiting to see how the wind blows following this action?

Violating the Constitution as well as falsely arresting a citizen for violating what could not be a law in the first place. He knew just as most LEOs do. They don't care. I'd love to hear stories of cops that uphold the Constitution and ignore invalid state 'law' but they are quite hard to find

No and no.
Good call on avoiding NJ.

Christie is trying to change his anti gun image before running for president. I think most people see it as typical politics, and he will never be pro 2A.

Rand Paul is no different than any other politician.

http://www.paul.senate.gov/about-rand/legislation?PageNum_rs=1&

Notice that not one of his proposed/supported legislative efforts are to repeal any existing laws that are anti-liberty, always new legislation to fix what previous legislation broke. If Rand Paul is sooo pro 2A why not focus on removing prior restraints in place at the fererales level? Hmm?

Is he more liberty minded than most of the others? Most certainly. Stopping future infringements is good, not correcting past infringements is bad. The problem with repealing laws is that political critters have a more difficult time slipping in crap to existing laws when claiming to repeal that law. Dishonest as the day is long.

YMMV

Actually Rand is a RHINO, though not the same way as other republicans. He is a libertarian parading as a republican. Not sure if that is hurting him, or helping him.

For myself, I would lean more towards a statist parading as a libertarian.

While he recently opposed Patriot Act reform, it seems he been pretty pro-government on other stuff. More politician than libertarian.

If you can't get elected, you can't make changes. So easy to get sucked in by the sexy job... As they say, too busy keeping the job to do the job.
On the other hand, I might believe that the typical, pandering politicians might be more honest because they don't really hide the pandering and political moves.
