And without the "CCL," I guess he'd just have to resign himself to being helpless and not defend himself.

To hell with this damned "license" nonsense. Self defense is the absolute right of all living creatures, humans WITHOUT a "permit" included.

I am sorry, Mama. My reading comprehension is poor and my eyesight is very bad so I can't find anything in that article that says anything about a "CCL" being a requirement. I see where it mentions the victim had a license, but nothing about what would have happened to him if he had not had one or anything about him needing to have it to defend himself. Please point out that part of the story to me, so I can share your outrage.

The majority of stories of armed self defense identify the defender as "licensed" one way or another - as if that were part of his/her name somehow. That seems to be the first thing they write. I only asked the question... what should the defender do if he/she doesn't have a "license?" Lay back and "enjoy" being raped, robbed or killed? A rhetorical question, obviously.

As long as "we," the people of the gun, continue to accept this "license" ******** as normal and even necessary... we will continue to lose our basic rights as human beings.

So, this particular thread just hit that nerve and I blew. Sorry if that offends you... I've been snow bound for two months, and my nerves are raw about a lot of things.

Where did I say that I was "offended". I am not and did not imply that I am. I just see the part about a "license" as another "fact" of the story, just like the "fact" that the victim lived outside the city. Another "fact" is that most people that carry guns are licensed. Some states require licenses to open carry and even in states where that is not the case, we open carriers are greatly outnumbered by licensees. It is to be expected that more "licensed" people would be involved in shootings. You seem to read a lot more into things than I would ever read into them. Words mean things and don't mean other things. They are just words. If I read that a man wore a blue shirt, I don't assume he was a gang member wearing "colors". I own several blue shirts. I am not a gang member. I am a member of AARP.

--snipped--I am a member of AARP.

"Member of AARP - gasp!

They offer me nothing that I can't get elsewhere from those who are not so anti gun/self defense.

"..it’s not unheard of for the AARP to come out with a position contrary to what’s good for the membership. Which makes their support of restrictive gun laws both unsurprising and disappointing. AARP treats “guns in the home” as a disease.

Thank you for your opinion on my choice of memberships. In contrast to you, I find some of their offerings to be very beneficial to my existence, so if it is all the same with you, I'll renew tonight for another 10 years. Thanks anyway for your advice on my life choices and helping with my renewal decision. Should you need any similar advice, I'll be glad to chime in with all of my ideas and suggestions on your life decisions. I always like to help to see that we all reach the same conclusions and I much prefer the "one size fits all" approach to everything. Where can I find the list of "Approved Organizations for OCDO Members"? I wouldn't want to deviate and, due to my advanced age I am not comfortable with making my own decisions.

I was not criticizing you for your choices.

What I said was they "They offer me nothing......"

I'm just surprised the urinal sentinel got it right in saying he was a conceal carry license holder and not a permit holder. I can't find the article, but I heard Tommy choo choo Barrett didn't explicitly decry the would be victim defending himself, but he essentially said we don't need more violence in the city. Gee Tom, maybe if you didn't gut the police departments by not hiring any detectives, made the police do their own detective work, have a soft on crime DA, and soft on crime judges, perhaps this wouldn't have happened?

That's why you join AMAC. ;)

My wife and I are both AARP members, and we find it beneficial, especially the discount we get for prescription eyeglasses, which far exceeds the annual dues (better than our insurance). Too bad NRA doesn't offer that. Their membership demographic suggests that perhaps they should consider it. Did I mention that we also get a substantial discount on our car insurance because we take their Driver Improvement Class? That discount is also much bigger than the cost of the class.

Those savings find their way into a VCDL gift.

You also said, "Member of AARP-gasp!
What can I infer from that?
You may "infer from that" that I have never met anyone from the people I know that are members or likely to become members so I was genuinely shocked. Do you see what I am saying?

I do not do business with companies/organizations who oppose the 2A and my right to defend myself.

Back to the op...
He [Milwaukee Police Capt. Andra Williams] also said he didn't necessarily think residents in his district need to arm themselves, saying it is one of the safer areas of the city and "pretty quiet."
Until it is not! Because, we all know that crime does not occur beyond those "high crime" areas, that cops use as an excuse to violate our various civil and enumerated rights. Typical top cop mentality to call for We The people to disarm for the benefit of cops...and the state.

I like the councilman’s quote:

He also said he didn't necessarily think residents in his district need to arm themselves, saying it is one of the safer areas of the city and "pretty quiet."

Did he mean AFTER the attempted carjacker felon was killed?

Also didn’t say if the deceased was a junior AARP member, or if his family had AARP family member life insurance with BLM car-jacker disability/add rider.
