It is looking like OC on town properties is in the near future. The page can be found here

We need to have another M&G here in the near future.

Excerpt from CR town site...

"Posted on: August 28, 2014[h=3]Both measures pass in Aug. 19 Special Election[/h]Results in the Town’s Aug. 19 Special Election were announced this afternoon, with voters approving both measures.
The unofficial vote totals are:
Measure A
YES – 4,737 (50.8 percent)
NO – 4,586 (49.2 percent)
Measure B
YES – 6,610 (71.2 percent)
NO – 2,679 (28.8 percent)
The results must still be canvassed by the municipal judge before they are final.
When the Town Manager is advised the election results are final, all Town Manager imposed restrictions on the open carry of firearms on Town-owned property will be rescinded. Any future restrictions on the open carry of firearms on Town-owned property must be decided by Castle Rock voters.
The Town mailed nearly 32,000 ballots. More than 9,400 ballots were returned to the Town – the most ballots received in a Town of Castle Rock election. "

We could do that...let me know -- you've been MIA here so I thought you were all tied up with work and such and so "unavailable for comment" as they say in TV news. ;-)

Yeah...but can your parents visit YOU without worrying about that stupid crap in Denver! ;-)

...true, but just kidding...

I'm confused. How did they think they were going to get away with banning OC?

Sadly, the case with Denver showed that if the town/city allows CHP-restricted CC, then OC suddenly is on the table for discussion. It's crap, but that's the way it is. The citizens just told the town manager to [expletive deleted].

Don't get too excited ---- 49.2 % think that the restrictions are just fine.

Celebrate for now, prepare for later.

I disagree. Denver restrictions are only valid because they challenged the state in court. How any other city thinks that the decision automatically applies to them is beyond me.

Good news, but the voter turnout saddens me. I was actually worried about this vote, but glad to see the outcome the way it is. I see there is another suit filed, wonder where that will go.

VICTORY!! Now I can visit my parents without worrying about that stupid crap.

You could before, just not in certain city owned areas. Now you can go to those city owned areas without fear.

Thanks for the clarification. I was actually under the wrong impression. However, I believe it still would have affected me, given their home location.

You can see where I live, never had an issue in public.

Actually, all the previous posts were on the Tapatalk app, which doesn't show those profile details for others. But I'm on my PC now, and can see your home location. However, I do appreciate the corrections! :)

I thought:

A) That only applied to "home-rule"

and

B) Only Denver got away with it, not because the issue was actually decided, but because it was NOT decided; rather, it was a hung jury (tied vote as to whether or not to overturn it).

Exactly, Beau. If a city wasn't party to Denver's suit, they can't. The State Constitution still applies. Had the knuckleheads in charge of deciding Denver's case followed the law, the decision would have been unanimous. Part of the problem with politics here in Colorado is that too many legislators and judges feel like they're above the law. They don't understand that you cannot override the Constitution with either legislation or a judicial decision. It takes an amendment.

If I had loads of money, I'd have challenged last years anti-gun crap as un-Constitutional.

Sorry, I'm not tapatalk savvy, didn't mean to imply you couldn't read. We're all good!

City officials say the special election garnered the most ballots in history for a town election.

Interesting..I recall folks complaining of LOW turnout.

I think I mentioned it, did anyone else?
