Tell that to your local jailer or corrections officer. Please tell us how that goes.
Confused? Is there a law in NV about the # of mags of rounds carried? Or are you saying they cannot be carried into a corrections facility (which is understandable)?

There is no law in Nevada regulating the carry of ammunition, feeding devices, etc.

Tell that to your local jailer or corrections officer. Please tell us how that goes.

I was simply responding to "no law....regulating the carry of ammunition".

I did not address the amount of ammunition or number of mags carried where legal.

Nope, there aren't any laws, in Nevada, regarding the carry of extra magazines, jailor or not.

Of course other laws apply, specifically where you can carry a firearm or where you can't carry concealed.

But in regards to ammunition, and magazines, no restrictions on how, how much or where on your person, you carry.

https://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-202.html#NRS202Sec350

Under NRS 202.350, ammunition is explicitly exempt from the ban on concealed weapons:

NRS 202.350  Manufacture, importation, possession or use of dangerous weapon or silencer; carrying concealed weapon without permit; penalties; issuance of permit to carry concealed weapon; exceptions.
1.  Except as otherwise provided in this section and NRS 202.3653 to 202.369, inclusive, a person within this State shall not:
(a) Manufacture or cause to be manufactured, or import into the State, or keep, offer or expose for sale, or give, lend or possess any instrument or weapon of the kind commonly known as a blackjack, slungshot, billy, sand-club, sandbag or metal knuckles;
(b) Manufacture or cause to be manufactured, or import into the State, or keep, offer or expose for sale, or give, lend, possess or use a machine gun or a silencer, unless authorized by federal law;
(c) With the intent to inflict harm upon the person of another, possess or use a nunchaku or trefoil; or
(d) Carry concealed upon his or her person any:
(1) Explosive substance, other than ammunition or any components thereof;
(2) Machete
(3) ...

A magazine does not meet the NV definition of firearm under NRS 202.253 ( https://www.leg.state.nv.us/NRS/NRS-202.html#NRS202Sec253 ) :
2.  “Firearm” means any device designed to be used as a weapon from which a projectile may be expelled through the barrel by the force of any explosion or other form of combustion.

And it is hard to argue how a magazine itself is an "any other dangerous or deadly weapon".

Grape Shot has a few times over the years got caught exercising his knowledge of Nevada gun laws.

Thanks.
I will choose to carry my extra mags as I please.
I did not mean for this question to turn into a debate.

I carry two extra mags whenever I'm armed. Honestly, mostly to balance the weight of the gun, although they may come in handy for other things. I don't really expect to "need" 52 rounds. It's also a good conversation starter!

You basically can't post anything here without it turning into a debate. You sorta get used to it after a while. I make a game of it, who's gonna respond, and what are they gonna say. Pretty predictable for the most part. I probably just started a debate.......

As the after action debriefing went -
Why did you shoot him 52 times?
Ans: That's all of the ammunition I had.

Is that debatable? :lol:

To DA... is it my fault the prep kept trying to get up which rekindled my fear of grave bodily injury and death.

This was not one of them, though.

Reread post #6, wherein I clearified what was said.

Thanks for playing. :p

The OP, “what is the law about carrying extra magazines?” A reply “There is no law in Nevada regulating the carry of ammunition”. I made the assumption they were talking about legal open carry which as far as I know (room to be corrected) there is no Nevada law regarding carrying ammo for a legal carried firearm. You bring in a profession of jailer or corrections officer with please tell us how that goes. Please tell us how that goes? Sounds like a pompous and somewhat confronting statement. If your mission was to inform there may be Nevada law that regulates ammo outside of legal carry civilian so be it.
You dragged the question into situations that due to the profession may have regulations on ammo carried.
I did not realize you were playing a game. If the game you are playing was to highjack and redirect the intent of the original posting you have done well.
Though it had nothing to do with the intent of the OP question and the reply no ammo law regulating ammo I am sure if one was to research all Nevada carry laws for every profession there would be laws regulating ammo. So yes you win.
