So, the lesson here is that the shooting was ultimately stopped by two GGs, one with a gun, and the other with the heaviest pair off stones ever.

Another article I read said that the BG was armed with “an assault rifle”.

Why didn’t California gun-control stop this shooting? Answer: because gun-control never stops the BGs. It disarms the GGs.

I'm interested to see who was carrying the weapon. First reports I heard was that the off-duty CBP agent retrieved the weapon from his car, but according to this article, he was given to it by another citizen.

I have spent the last few winter is AZ and got to know some BP agents I yet to see one carry off duty.

I seen that attitude promoted in several agencies discoursing off duty carry.

Overall management is very afraid of the liability of having their officers carry off duty.

An account I read yesterday stated that the rabbi had the gun in a cabinet, with a few of the congregants knowing of its location. Supposedly the rabbi himself retrieved it and gave it to the BP agent. I don't know if that was before or after the rabbi was shot in the hand, losing a couple fingers.

Again the question why unarm yourself and give your weapon to a person who may well simply use it to cover his escape. Officer safety you know.
Or is the most inept gun handler in the building. Though I think I read he did shoot at the suspect and managed to hit his truck as he fled. Something I suppose.

I wondered the same thing...

...until I read that the gun was essentially a community gun, available to several possible defenders, that it was given up by someone who was wounded, and that the person to whom it was given was CBP.

With the scant information available (none of it really verified), and considering the positive outcome, I think the rabbi’s decision was wise. Further information—or a different set of verified information—could change my mind again.
