Michael Bloomberg, has said that citizens “acting outside of any governmental military effort” should not be allowed to protect themselves with firearms.

the idiocy expressed here is beyond my repertoire of snarky come backs.

Bloomie ignores the wisdom inherent in these:

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
"

"Sell not virtue to purchase wealth, nor Liberty to purchase power."

Howdy Folks!
If you tolerate getting tread upon, they'll take you up on it.

The enema of Liberty is over-zealous government.

The list of grievance grows long, and it won't grow shorter while we fondle our I-Pods!

And when 2013 fashions show up with lightweight linings of metalized foil, then what?
We already have steel mesh wallets, notebooks, purses, clutches and other fashion items for sale. It's no great feat of manufacturing to expand that into the next fashion line of hoodies.

Don't forget the tin foil hats.

I didn't expect they would get this far. Body scanners on the streets...

Surprised me, too.

I guess the lesson is that power + technology = misuse. So far, the government hasn't passed up any chances to increase its power with technology, nor to abuse technology, rather to abuse the additional power from a new survelliance technology.

Government criminals (sorry for being redundant) got how many thousands of call records illegally a few years ago? And, then Congress made it legal after the fact in case the government wants to do it again (they do).

Police are getting drones now.

The list goes on.

As a retired officer once charged with the responsibility of, if need be, using a devastation portion of our nation's nuclear arsenal, I firmly believe you're statement is amiss. A simple amendment, however, will make it correct:

power + technology - morals = misuse
