Is the Birmingham Zoo posted or can you carry concealed there?

The Birmingham Zoo is a private non-profit 501c3. Private property laws apply. CC isn't illegal, the facilities are open to the public. Any signs don't have the force of law, but you may be trespassed if you carry and someone notices.

That part of town isn't noisy by any stretch. Homewood is almost a police state, Mountain Brook is very law-abiding.

Unless you're in Birmingham proper (in the city itself, in the bowl north of Red Mountain, around Five Points and other places), crime is generally low.

Birmingham Zoo - Legal to Carry Firearms

Private-public partnerships (a private company leasing city-owned land, for example) is now considered under Alabama state law to be a "political subdivision", and therefore subject to state preemption.

So the final answer on this, is that you can open or conceal carry at the Zoo whether or not it is posted and whether or not they have a policy or rule banning firearms.

So, with the law being well established now in Alabama, are any of you still having any problems with open carrying at places like the Birmingham Zoo, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, city owned museums, public libraries, etc?

Thank you for the link.

Alabama would seem to have exceptionally strong preemption.
