Really?

Anyone who is idiotic enough to support or sign that petition should leave the states and live in Russia for 1 full year to pledge their allegiance to the Kremlin. People are so removed from reality it's ridiculous.

Maybe all the petitioners will get eaten by bears or squashed by moose because I'd wager a guess they're not well-prepared, law abiding OCers who take the individual responsibility for their safety and well-being. :-D

Geographically speaking, AK is about as seceded as they need to be. Other than touristos, not many folks live there because they want to live there.

AK is a beautiful state and its remote location enables it to maintain its beauty. I will not travel up there and thus spoil the natural beauty.

Secession is a natural right one the founders exercised to become sovereign independent states, one that is upheld by the ratification of the constitution to form a voluntary union, one that the states Virginia, Rhode Island, and New York made explicitly clear in their ratification documents. The DOI is a secession document. Unless of course people don't believe in the self evident right of government by consent.

It would be extremely sad to secede one jingoistic imperialistic nation to join another. Why not just remain their own state.
