Portantino presented, a couple of law enforcement folks voiced support, save our state spoke against along with an individual representing the california gun owners (I believe), and an individual representing both the california rifle and pistol association and the NRA. Senator Lieu (Torrance) spoke in support of the bill (drawing a difference between handguns and rifles (he voted against the handgun ban)).

Passed out of committee, 4-2.

I think I know where ya'll went wrong. Instead of having the NRA speak against the bill, you should have gotten some convicted felons (muggers, rapists, and murderers) to speak in favor of it. That would have made a more entertaining video clip.

Just a thought.

That's what these forums are for. Bringing in fresh ideas like that. I love that one. It would take money to get a convice to testify though, 'cause they'd have no reason to do it otherwise

It was somewhat tongue in cheek, but still if you could find a reformed rapist to say, man this law would have made my life easier.

2 good video clips you may have seen before:

John Stossel on gun control: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_YTM_eAWnQ

Suzanna Hupp (she was at the Luby's in TX and lost her parents): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1u0Byq5Qis

Now all you have to do is get your senator to watch, and care.
