I'm sorry, but what actions of mine are you speaking of? It was not me that open carried a long gun in Portland. I've been open carrying daily for 5 years now and I have never done so for attention.

Sorry, that was my fault. Thought it was you. Threw you in the middle for no reason :banghead:

Either way, at the risk if this being locked I've LGOC many times and not one time was it for attention.

sorry but yes he was and that is fine as long as we use judgement as to time and place, you have to realize even if you can do something sometimes you shouldn't.

Slippery slope. Someone will always say it isn't the time it place. And who decides the right time and place? Is there a calendar that has dates and times its okay to OC?

While it is nice to get some perspective and hear from those who are anti-gun, I'm wondering Marcus, why are you on this forum? You clearly do not support gun rights, and now think that people only exercise their rights because they need attention.

Great news, thanks! I am surprised seeing as so many people thought Biddeford Wal-Mart was anti open carry.

no i don't blindly put gun rights above all other things which is what it seems you do. you seem to be more interested in continuing confrontation than anything move on buddy act like an adult. just because someone disagrees with your view you feel the need to be an internet tough guy keep coming at me for some reason. i believe common sense restrictions should be in place a world without rules is chaos.

There are rules such as no murder which didn't violate rights. "Common sense" restrictions on guns does violate rights.

If you are not for every able bodied and free** person owning guns(of any kind) then you are closer to an anti than you are pro.

**Free person meaning anyone not in jail, this includes felons. If they are safe enough to be released they are safe enough to own guns.

If you beat a dead horse till it bleeds it's still a dead horse it won't get up walk away. Most Americans don't agree nor does the court systems and they're the only ones that count. The only sensible thing to do is accept that you're in the very small minority who believes this. Most of us want common sense rules to live by. If we're enjoying a ballgame and some fool screams fire they should be arrested. If someone threatens to kill their wife should you really be able to sell them your gun if they're standing in your kitchen telling you they will kill this woman when you make this sale. If the Government was to prosecute you for making the sale knowing someone may die wouldn't your rights be violated? It's a asinine argument. Common sense laws mean just that!

Yelling "common sense" is the same thing the gun grabbers are doing.

"It's common sense that civilians don't need assault weapons" same argument.

When did it turn into "most american's agree" as the argument for making laws? Most american's agree that burning flags should be a crime, but the courts have consistantly ruled that it is your freedom of speech that allows you to do it. Most American's agree that the Westboro Baptist Church should not be allowed to heckle soldier's funerals, yet they are allowed the freedom of speech to do so.

In the days of the founding of our country, when a felon was released from prison, his rights to own a firearm were restored. It wasn't until 1968 (Only 55 years ago) that selling a firearm to a felon became a crime. For 250 years people were allowed to sell firearms to felons and there was not "blood in the streets" and people were okay with this...

You're making a straw man argument here. If someone tells you they are going to kill their wife, and you provide them a firearm, then you are an accomplice in the murder. However, if someone comes to you and says, "hey, that's a nice gun, can I buy it?" and you sell it to them and they kill their wife. That's on THEM, not on YOU. When was the last time you heard a story of "Man told gun seller he was going to kill his wife and seller sold it anyway." You're being irrational here.

Once again, Marcus, I'm not only interested in gun rights. Maybe if I say it again you'll get it. But, those are the only ones I'm going to debate with you on in this thread and forum. Otherwise it'll get this thread locked. Is it really that hard for you to understand? If you'd like to PM me and ask me about how I feel on our other constitutional rights, by all means, please do. Otherwise, stop speaking nonsensically. You're making yourself look even more foolish than you already have.

Confrontation? How am I being confrontational? I'm really sorry you're unable to hold your own in an argument online, but that doesn't mean I'm "being an internet tough guy". And what exactly should I move on from? You and your anti-gun opinions seem to be in the minority here. Maybe you should take your own advice.

I'm awfully sorry for hurting your feelings, but you should be able to carry on a discussion without taking everything so personally. After all, we're strangers. I'll send you some flowers and chocolates to make up for it.

And you continue with nonsense.. There is no reason to try discuss this anymore you have blinders on its all opinion
Sorry to be so late into this discussion - missed it earlier in my searches.

MainelyGlock is correct Marcus92183 in his observations quoted above - it is definitely not nonsense. OCDO is not an anything goes zone - OCDO is private property and the site owners have set parameters/policies.

This site is dedicated to promoting and defending the right to open carry a holstered handgun as we go about our normal everyday lives. Other RKBA issues will be allowed - state specific items may be posted in the appropriate state sub-forum, other should normally be posted in General Discussions

Note: as our rules are modified occasionally, it behooves all to check the Forum Rules regularly.

Insofar as the OC vs CC debate is concerned, OCDO welcomes all who advocate either BUT we expect responsible, respectful posts. We do not allow personal attacks or insults. Again, read the Forum Rules.

Personally, I don't care whether you OC, CC or noC. I won't object to your choice and expect that you will afford me the same courtesy. Remember that here on OCDO we give much more credence to facts over feelings, unsupported claims, and urban myths.

Recommend that you read this good primer on the subject. I am not endorsing this article as an end-all argument - only suggesting that it is a good beginning.

Whils OCing do people often get the impression that you are a LEO? It happen to me tonight for the 3rd or fourth time. After the 5th time telling the guy I was not a cop, his smile went to a concerned glare and he walked away.
