It's early and reports are widely varying, but as many as eight people were wounded by one or more "active shooters" and/or possibly the attack involved a "machete". recent update states there is one assailant in custody and a search is on for two more "persons of interest".

To make sure we stay topical here I wanted to point out that while open carry is technically legal on OU's campus, (on the grounds not in the buildings) doing so will get a student expelled, and a university employee fired pretty quick. Concealed carry is unlawful for all there except LEO.

Official report from high ups at OSU, started at 1254 (live through Fox News) says guy drove car into crowd of people got out and started stabbing and slashing at 0952.

Cop arrived on scene at 0953 and engaged him resulting in shooting and killing him. Reports no students were shot. Only shooting was aimed at perp resulting in him being neutralized.

8 persons cut, 1 shot and killed (perp), resulting in total of 9 injuries total. As of report at 1319 per above.

Active shooter protocol (RHF) initiated at 0955. Ended right at 1100.

Reportedly strongly considered to be terrorist attack. But as of now cannot official say it is because of insufficient info. Source same as noted above.

It's time to have a serious conversation about enacting commonsense laws banning all possession of these deadly military-style knives and assault vehicles... for the children, of course!

/sarcasm, for anyone who hadn't figured that out yet... :banghead:

Per Fox News at 1537 suspect is identified as Abdul Razak Ali Artan (per pronunciation, spelling by me not verified) a legal permanent Somali resident.

Not on any "terrorism" watch list as released so far but that motivation being strongly considered and investigated.

Reported less than a minute from his driving over the curb to him being dead on the street from cop. 2 minutes later univ admin put out shelter in place order.

Just more evidence that 1) the Obama admin's plan to let in these refugees in without having their background gone through with a fine tooth comb is a complete failure, and 2) that the lovely institutional bias against guns and gun owners colors every criminal/terrorist style incident without regard to facts concerning weapons used.

This incident will fade from the news very very rapidly, no gun, and possibly not a Trump supporter, and certainly the former Muslim Somali refugee perp will speed this story into news oblivion.

Thanks to those who came along and updated this with accurate information and details. I fully expected that my early posting would turn out to be somewhat off target (pun sort of intended) from the actual facts, just wanted to get the conversation started.

And the incident hasn't been completely forgotten. Just a few miles away over at the Ohio General Assembly, the House and Senate were in the midst of having hearings on pro-gun bills that had been languishing for the last several months, when this terrorist incident went down. Maybe that will give these bills some traction, with less than a month of the GA's two year session remaining.
