Hello to all my midwestern patriot brothers and sisters. I will be traveling through Iowa with a valid Washington state permit. I know that I must show my permit on demand if a police officer asks. Anything else I need to know? Read through the state laws, but they are a bit muddy for out of staters.

Boomboy, hopefully if you are driving you are taking the 'northern' route and avoiding WY, NE, CO, MN, & IL since those states do not honour the Evergreen's privilege card. [ https://handgunlaw.us/states/washington.pdf ]

Additionally, per handgunlaw - iowa, there is no duty to immediately notify LE upon contact per Iowa statute, quote:
724.5 Availability of permit not to be construed as prohibition on unlicensed carrying of weapons. The availability of a professional or nonprofessional permit to carry weapons under this chapter shall not be construed to impose a general prohibition on the otherwise lawful unlicensed carrying or transport, whether openly or concealed, of a dangerous weapon, including a loaded firearm.

Twasn't clear from "...traveling through Iowa..." if that was your final destination per se., but safe travels...weather permitting...

Wyoming is now true Constitutional Carry, as is Iowa is also now Constitutional Carry.

Both Iowa & Wyoming became true Constitutional Carry states on July 1, 2021. Of the Constitutional Carry states, only North Dakota disallows permitless carry by non-residents.

What route are you planning on going?

I did a Midwestern trip back in August to Wisconsin to take some items to my ex. My route was: Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa, & Wisconsin. Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, & Iowa are all true Constitutional Carry (residents & non-residents can carry, as long as meet Federal & state rules/regulations). Wisconsin has reciprocity with Washington State.

mnrobitaille, WY's statutes specifically mention non-residents are included under the umbrella of their constitutional conceal carry laws, newspeek cite: https://oilcity.news/general/2021/0...to-sue-other-states-for-harming-wyoming-coal/

however, i unable/cannot not find any specific reference to Iowa's new constitutional carry regarding exemption for non-residents or green card holders, etc.

all article's i have found state this caveat, quote: "...no longer require residents to hold a permit to carry a concealed firearm." with no mention of those citizens passing through the 21 states which profess/articulating they are 'constitutional' carry States.

Both Iowa & Wyoming, as of July 1, 2021, allow residents & non-residents to carry without need of permit.

Iowa Concealed Carry
Wyoming Concealed Carry

Washington State does not recognize the permits from Iowa or Wyoming, but both states give Washingtonians the right to carry.

sorry, mnrobitaille, nowhere in your iowa cite coupled again a review of iowa statute 725 does it mentions non-residents are covered by the new changes...and unequivocally states non-residents can be issued a professional/unprofessional privilege permit.

edited to add iowa's statutes refer it allows individuals to buy handguns which federal laws prohibit, with minimal exception, individuals from purchasing handguns outside their residency...

Here is the listing of permits that Iowa recognizes (which is all 50 states plus DC).

reference your 1 Feb 0834PM comment w/o the NRA ILA bluster, quote

Soooo...which is it...touting constitutional carry W/O permit for non-residents or now stating using NRA-ILA's nonsense regarding Iowa honoring PERMITS...

w/a permit or w/o a permit which stance are you advocating...?

I am thinking that how the NRA-ILA listing I posted is done, that they are showing that Iowa recognizes that all United States citizens have the right to carry.

If one was to do further research themselves, it would be found that the constitutional carry States (minus North Dakota) allow for carrying without a permit.

North Dakota has permitless carry only for residents, currently.

Vermont does not have a permit system, but they're listed. Hawaii and Maryland are effectively no-issue, but they're listed also.

Along with every other state, DC, and Guam.

KB perhaps my geography is off a smidge but Guam & DC are:

Guam's citizens are in a subservient political condition if they remain in Guam as the area is specifically listed as a "unincorporated territory of the United States” may acquire full political equality as individuals if they move to any of the 50 states.
[https://www.guampedia.com/guams-political-status/#:~:text=Today, Guam's official political status,if they remain in Guam.]

DC's citizens live in a federal territory created by the constitution under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Congress which is treated as a state govern by more than 500 federal laws.

Further, clarification, HI's statutory governance is 'MAY issue' as i have a friend who has obtained one.

however, if this Union's ~ MA, CT, MD, NJ, DE, NY, CA, HI, or the territory of PR (opps PR moved to "Shall" in 2020)~ are "May-issue" of their firearm carry privilege permits to their citizens, then those citizens are devoid of the full constitutional providences the founding father's it intended for the Union's citizens & completely outside of this forum's purview and up to those citizens to rectify their firearm carrying issues.

the concept still stands...if a state professes 'constitutional carry' for their resident citizens the concept does not mean nor cover non-residents...

now does it?
