"RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Five stages will be set up for music and other entertainment for the Carytown Watermelon Festival on Aug. 12."

Event runs from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm

Handicapped parking?

Bring the kids, bring the whole family. This is a long standing, popular event and very OC friendly - always great, positive interaction and it drives the antis bananas.

GSL stickers will be available.

You will likely find me holding court and eating watermelon inside one of the first few restaurants.

Call or text me.I'll be hiding in plain view.

Remember Curtis/CurtisR (RIP?) he loved this event.

Can find no accessible handicapped parking. Will be asking local grocery store at beginning of the route to permit me short term parking - until about 12:00. Have to leave by then because of other commitments.

Find me (not difficult - first shop or two) and I will supply you with copious GSL stickers to make available to the masses. A sea of orange is a beautiful thing to behold.

Do I have to remind anyone that this is a public festival on public streets and that therefore OC is acceptable thereon? Mind the rules on private property though.

Since there was no designated handicapped parking, I prevailed on the MoD of Kroger's to give me special dispensation to park on their lot.

On the way into the Festival I talked to a Richmond PD officer who was controlling traffic there. He thank me for what I was doing and said he fully supports the 2nd Amendment.

Would liked to have spent more time there - a ton of outstanding bargains to be had.

I wouldn't go back to Carytown if they were giving away a truckload of free watermelons packed in boxes with hundred dollar bills. I lived there back in the 90s and that place is horrible. I hope you managed to have a good time. Was there a sea of orange?

Has the area been cleaned up? It was absolutely awful when I lived there.

I'm glad you had a good time. It's probably a good place to visit, but living there... no

How many orange stickers were there?

Too busy staying comfortable to count. Me thinks that the best part of the evening was a wash anyhow..
