This group is apparently newly formed in the Richmond area and bears watching.

The following is an excerpt from an email forwarded to me.

Students, Teachers, Parents, and Virginians,

I’m an alumnus of Virginia Tech. I wasn’t there during their mass shooting tragedy, but as a parent and concerned citizen of Richmond, I worry that it’s only a matter of time before a massacre like that could strike our community. The tragedy in Florida, the latest in a long string of horrific mass shootings, is yet another reminder that we need meaningful action. That’s why I’ve formed Never Again RVA and launched www.neveragainrva.com, a grassroots organization, so that concerned students, teachers, and parents in our community may come together and have a voice.

This is your casting call to be a voice for the Richmond community. Lawmakers will listen. Our kids will vote soon, and they WILL be heard now on the site...and later at the polls.

"Virginia is home to 248,939 registered firearms among 8,260,405 people."

Well one thing definitely wrong about this statement. Virginia has no registration requirements for gun owners. The other part I would bet is also wrong is the number of privately owned firearms in this state. I would wager the number is quite a bit higher than that which she submitted.

Class III guns must be registered.

Wouldn't it be great to discover that there were that many class III guns in Virginia? Every honest person should have one...:D

"Never Again RVA" is not registered with the secretary of state. I'd go register it. Once registered then you can send a letter to stop infringing on the name.

I have at least one friend that is in the process of making most of his guns shorter and/or quieter. Faster is still way too expensive.

I could see that number as suppressors get more popular.

Take note that the 2nd Amendment says nothing, ziltch.zero, nada about restricting full automatic guns.

I called him on this and learned that he got his (not her) information from a media web site, which didn't identify the type of weapons. I pointed out that Virginia residents might very likely own as many as 8.2 million firearms. He also thinks that we need universal background checks & registration of all firearms.

BTW, Class III firearms must be registered with the VSP.

I believe only machine guns are required to be registered with the Commonwealth. SBR's, SBS's, AOW's and suppressor/silencers do not. See http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Firearms_MachineGun.shtm
