On this the second day of that petty tyrant ex-sheriff Joe's federal trial, I thought it fitting to resurrect this four year old thread..

I hope all the participants from 4 years past, are all doing well.

Back to the petty tyrant, hopefully he will be reunited with some of his old amigos, only this time,he gets to bunk with them.. Justice has a way of coming around.

It's the trial of the Century folks, get your tickets while you can as it's scheduled for a whole 8-days of testimony.

The charge against Arpaio is criminal contempt of court, a misdemeanor. If convicted, the former elected Sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona could face up to six months in jail, though lawyers who have followed his case doubt that a man of his age would be put behind bars.

I predict there will be civil action against the petty tyrant, so yes, get your tickets folks.. May be all his so-called supporters will donate some cash on his behalf.

Mr QI aka Fallschirmajager, how much cash, can I pencil you in for?.. Im guessing zero.. Thank you for your support, NOT

Petty tyrants come in all shapes, sizes, color and age..

The petty tyrant ex-sheriff, now at 85 years old, was indeed at one time a young petty tyrant, now at 85, he is an old petty tyrant.. Hence the word "tyrant".

I have zero sympathy for him or any of his supporters, a vote for him, was and is a vote for tyranny.. Clearly this board does not support such horrible treatment of other human's, practices that tyrant Joe, practiced thru-out his miserable life.

" Tyranny anywhere is a threat to freedom everywhere". Alex Storozynski

And regarding his criminal trial, ' Those who are capable of tyranny are capable of perjury to sustain it".. Lysander Spooner.

Ya know, if I think about it, rights are really just about human decency and fair play.

Sometimes I wonder whether we make too big a deal about rights. As in, maybe we should be making a much, much bigger deal about rights violators*. You know, just hang them summarily. "Oh, you coerced that fellow into violating his right against self-incrimination? OK. That right is too obviously about the strongest imperative in nature: self-preservation. If you tried to violate that, we need to protect ourselves against you. You're too damn dangerous to let live. Do prefer drop hanging or choke hanging?" Not literally, but you get the message--rights are really nothing but human decency and fair play. A government agent who violates them proves beyond any shadow of doubt that, at a minimum, he won't play decently and fair. I invite you to ponder that within the sphere of liking your fellow man and equality.

----------------------------------------------------------

Isn't "petty tyrant" one of the most demeaning insults of all? I swear, its right up there with the ultimate OCDO insult, "you're just making that up as you go along." Chairman Mao, Joe Stalin, Pol Pot, Nicolae Ceausescu. Now, there were some bad boys who knew how to suppress and kill. Nobody ever called them petty tyrants.

*I mean, really. Why should the decent, productive people have to explain and justify rights? It really doesn't take three brain cells to realize rights are just about respecting your fellow man. Why should we even have to argue for them? Much less, fight and bleed across centuries?

Pretty piss-poor tyrant if all he can manage to do in his career is a piddly little misdemeanor.

Unlike the 'smartest guy in the room', I actually lived in Arizona while Arpaio was a Sheriff. Not my most favorite guy, but I'm not foaming-at-the-mouth about it.

Petty tyrant, to me, since I coined the term here, is simply that said tyrant is a petty man with a petty brain, and a petty soul. A petty tyrant is ignorant to the human rights of his fellow man. To wit, " An equal right, is that EVERY man hath, to his natural freedom, without being subjected to the will or authority of another man'.

A tyrant is a tyrant, a rights violator is a rights violator.. No difference really, its just words, I can think of many others, however they would not be in line with the decorum of this fine board.

Citizen, always a pleasure Sir!

Okay, let's suppose that the former (not ex-) Sheriff is convicted, let's further suppose that he's incarcerated at tax payer expense rather than being placed on probation for a petty misdemeanor. Where's he going to spend those 180 days?

It's not a felony, so he's not going to prison. A Class 1 misdemeanor conviction results in the most severe misdemeanor punishment; up to 3 years of probation, a $2,500 fine and a maximum of 6 months in jail. Since the offense occurred in Maricopa county, and was adjudicated in Maricopa county, Arpaio could be sent to the Maricopa County Jail, his former stomping grounds. Arpaio won't have to worry about living in "tent city" as that will be closed this year under the direction of Sheriff Penzone.

What's the end result?
It's not like he's going to be a flight risk, he'll be nice and comfy amongst his former Deputies, likely playing checkers when not enjoying NetFlix.

IF he's not put on probation as a first offender, or course.

Just witnessing that petty tyrant in hand cuffs and a jump suit with a number on back will be fine.. Also the civil suits will soon follow, and the petty tyrant will die in shame.. Last June, Oskar Groening age 93 was bought to justice.. Do your own research on Mr.Groening.. I personally see no difference between either animal. But than again, I believe in the Declaration of Human Rights.

If we had a Federal prosecutor, worth his/her salt, Joe, the petty tyrant, would be facing chargers under USC title 18 sections 241 and 242 and playing tonk with Bubba.

QI, thank you for the update..In my humble opinion, tyrant Joe, and his mustard seed size brain, violated the Constitution, violated Natural Law, violated civil rights and human rights... He clearly believed that he was above the law of the land, a quality shared by all petty tyrants. He wanted to be Judge, jury and executioner. He is not only a disgrace to all LEOS that honor their oath, he is clearly a disgrace to the human race in general... Like all petty tyrants, there is a place in hell awaiting him.

"I could kill a person on fifth avenue and the people we still love me"-- The words of another tyrant..

Rank CONTEXTOMY, quote mining, a logically fallacious appeal to authority of the supposed author.

Old word-salad, I am happy that you found another word to articulate. Keep up the good work.

Now please, do you have any intelligent wisdom to add on the topic at bar.?

While ex-Sheriff Joe's attorney has said an appeal was going to be filed, I do not see where that has been accomplished yet.

The former Sheriff's (not ex-, there's a difference) legal bills must be astronomical, what with a misdemeanor* hanging over his head like the sword of Damocles.

*Funny thing, it's reported that the penalty for a misdemeanor can be up to 6-months in jail and a monetary fine. This is true for a Class 1 misdemeanor. But, if news reports are also true and the former Sheriff has indeed been found guilty of criminal contempt of court, it's a Class 2 misdemeanor per ARS 12-863. In accordance with ARS 13-707 and ARS 13-802 that's 4 months and $750.

I'm not convinced that's going to cause the former Sheriff to live out of a refrigerator box out behind the Trader Joe's though.
