So are we or anyone here getting involved in getting this to go away?

Its really no carry of any rifle with a magazine over 20 rounds. But the idea of limitations is bad. Changing one number makes it over 10 rounds then 5 or . . ..

Expect that the VCDL will be working to that end.

We also need to stop subscribing to the term "high capacity" - these are standard capacity and as designed.

I suppose it's been a long while since I provided an OC report on this Lynchburg area OC thread so I should do so now. Since Baby Melvin came along the wife and I have cut back a bit on being out and about, but that doesn't mean we've stopped going out altogether. Here are some spots where we've been out and about while OCing in the past few months. These are all over the place with regard to location and interest:

- Kroger (Timberlake & Forest area)
- La Caretta (various ones throughout the city)
- Vinny's Pizza (Wards Rd)
- Ledo Pizza (Wards Rd @ Wards Ferry)
- Walmart (Old Forest Rd, Wards Rd, Altavista, Bedford)
- Dick's Sporting Goods (Wards Rd)
- Bob Evan's (Wards Rd)
- Moore's Country Store (Waterlick Rd & new one at Graves Mill Rd)
- Lowe's (Timberlake & Bedford)
- Home Depot (Graves Mill Rd)
- Boone Tractor (Bedford)
- Myer's & Rhodes Equipment (Main St)
- Honda Suzuki of Lynchburg
- Phillip's Equipment (John Deere, Rustburg)
- Farm Service Kubota (Wards Rd)
- Taste of Italy (Altavista)
- Sluggo's Ice Cream (Madison Heights)
- Mister Goodie's (Timberlake Rd)
- CVS & Walgreens (various)
- The T-Room (Greenview Drive)
- Auburnlea Market (Greenview Drive)
- Altus Chocolate (formerly Cao Chocolatiers, Main St)
- RA Bistro (Main St)
- Yellow Sub (Old Forest Rd)
- Monte Carlo Italian (Old Forest Rd)
- Milano's Italian (Boonsboro Rd)

I know there are more, but these are the ones that immediately come to mind. There was a whole lot of no big deal in any of these places as the locals seem to not be inclined to discriminate against peaceable people just doing business whether armed to protect their families or not. We're just people out living life and trying to be pleasant to those we come across, much like most others.

In compliance with my personal standard policy (drafted and enacted by yours truly) any time I have pants on I am openly carrying a sidearm on my belt. Although I have downsized from a S&W 5906 to a Springfield UC 1911 in .45 ACP.

During the times and activities of my pants wearing days, I have routinely been out and about in the general Lynchburg, Madison Heights, Forest Va area. Note that life permits and rewards me with having days of no pants wearing on a fairly frequent basis. :monkey Inquiries or comments seeking details on those days will be met with silence.

No issues and on occasion comment, conversation and/or statements of approval of that thing on my right side. Some were even inquiry regarding laws concerning such. Info routinely provided as well as VCDL info.

No complaints and/or expressions of feeling threatened, offended, insulted or even concerned have been received by me.

I sure don't see any baby-type stores creeping onto your list yet....want to see what's on it in another year or so...

We have been blessed to have received much from friends and family with regard to baby items. However, the one baby centric type place I could think of is Toys R Us (or Babies R Us) and it is a pro-robber/rapist/murderer zone that hangs big ol' no guns signs for the families who dare shop there. Otherwise we can get most anything we need from the various department stores and online retailers. Besides those stores listed above, there are surely other small local spots and some chains that I have missed as well. :)

Toys / Babies R Us, if I need to use them I order online, especially this time of year, the one here in Richmond's West End is a madhouse at the best of times. Their prices also suck compared to other stores like Walmart or Target, although they will price match why don't they just sell at the going price anyway? With Logan a lot of what he likes now is Lego, and TRU seem to price everything above the price I can buy the Legos direct from the manufacturer for. OK, yes they'll match the price BUT why should I have to stand in a line to tell them they're overcharging when I can just order online and get my loyalty discount points.

I think the last time I was in TRU was just before Christmas last year when they sent us a bicycle with the front forks broken so I had to return it to the store and have them assemble a new one as I waited.

However, I'm sure you've already discovered that with a child your daughter's age it's far easier to shop online than take them to the store with you. It only gets worse too, a 'quick trip to Target' to get contact lens solution and cat food turns into 30 minutes (minimum) being dragged around the toy aisles. At least I have a son, so the stuff he wants to look at can be fun for me, but you're going to be visiting all the pink aisles in your future .. lol

You need to go by there with wife and kid. Make a special trip if necessary and ask to speak to the manager. Advise him of what I call the 4.

Show him his sign, your ccw permit, your sidearm and your back. Explain that solely because of that sign you will take your money elsewhere and originally came to his store because of something in his ad. Explain that you have submitted to a thorough background check by the Va State Police and training that meets standards set by Va SP. But again, because of him requiring you be unarmed he does not get your money.

Advise him you will check back in a month or 2 and see if his sign is still up. In the interim you will discourage any persons you discuss your child, places to shop for kiddo, or firearms that they should avoid that store and business chain.

I did that at an Applebees in South Ga. Got about 500 emails (from folks on another forum) sent to corporate within about a 48 hour time span. Kept it up and and about 6 months later the sign was removed. New manager also so that may have something to do with it also but I am sure my campaign helped.

Maybe each state here should have a sticky for anyone in that state to post a note about some business they went to and were not permitted to carry.

Each post should have a location, date and overview of the situation along with an email address for that business.

Anyone in that state, and anyone else who can reasonably claim plans to be in that area in the near future should send an email complaining of that policy and advising of their intent to not patronize them and encourage everyone they can to stay away from that business.

I know I would send that email and check here on a near daily basis just for new posting on that if not to peruse the rest of the place.

There is such a site and you can set your preferred default location., although it is not heavily contributed to nor utilized in our area.

Nemo, when TRU put up their No-Guns sign years ago as part of a corporate thing I wrote them then and even posted it here then: http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/showthread.php?79408-Toys-R-Us-NO-FIREARMS

I think I may have even updated Friend or Foe for the local TRU as well and I recall various other ones, such as in Charlottesville and maybe Roanoke having the same update as well. For their part, Toys R Us cared so much about my comments and the comments of others who wrote from this forum that they did not even bother to respond. For my part, I have only been back once in the 6 years since they posted since someone gave me a gift from TRU that I needed to return for something different. I have also made one online purchase from them since someone gave us a generous gift card for baby Melvin and I wasn't going to let their generosity go to waste.

One of these days I may write them again, but they surely aren't the only game in town and I can easily manage to buy anything I need without darkening their door.

And as long as you say nothing and they don't know, nothing will change on their side.

Been OCing all over like normal with nearly no issues as normal. A new pizza joint, Blaze Fast Fired Pizza, has opened up over on Wards Rd and the family and I have already been there several times already with no problems OCing. I recognize some of the staff from other restaurants where I never had a problem either. Other than that I can't think of any new places where I've OCed recently.

On a bum note, I did attempt to establish service with a new doctor recently, but like a fool, didn't adequately drive by the proper office entrance before scheduling an appointment. The doctor's website gave no clue that his practice discriminated against lawful sidearm carriers though. When I arrived for my first visit I walked up to the correct entrance and saw a "Posted...." sign that had a list of various things banned in the office, including sidearms. I turned right around, went back to my truck and called the office to cancel the appointment and of course explained that their sign made it clear that they do not want my business and I make a habit out of not doing business with those who would deprive me of effective means of self defense. The secretary who took the call seemed a bit surprised, but made no issue otherwise. I was not OCing, but I still will avoid this doctor as this is not an emergency situation or one in which I don't have other options. When I get a chance I intend to write the doctor a thoughtful note encouraging him to change his policy.

My older GP doc works in a facility where the facility is run in a tyrannical fashion by an narrowly focused office manager who 'has always done it this way' Clara Barton era mentality. They have no phone, no weapons, no firearms, no food\drink posted all posted on a 8.5x11 sheet on the sign in window... not on the door ~ sigh! I open holster there but there might be a time or two when during an ad hoc exam, a bug pops into the exam equation...a smile just crosses his face and he continues with the exam...
When we meet, the 30-45 minutes are spent discussing a myriad of topics, from my health to general social concerns, to a topic he brought up ~ prepping!!

address your concerns to the doc as well as the office manager. One hopes the doc sees your note... just saying.

So, I remember all the grief a certain poster gave one from Utah over casually concealing into an establishment that has an anti-gun policy but not in violation of gun laws.... It seemed to have gone on for months and many pages. And now someone whose logon was very active in that particular groups of exchanges posts this? Am I mis-remembering the name of the active participant from NC here? Curious, certainly curious!

Since you leaped, let's tell the commentary correctly shall we...

the Utah mate has signed a contract with Costco where he has acknowledged their security policies of NO firearms OC\CC in their facilities. Acknowledged equates to agrees to those private organizational provisions to use their facilities.

The Utah mate not once, nor twice, but consistently stated he sloppily CCs in their facilities cuz as it is a convenient to his personal benefit.

It is acknowledged during that past commentary that in Utah the gunbuster sign(s) do not have the weight of law.

let's see...NC statutes are clear on their placement of gunbuster in a conspicuously place at the entrance! NC statutes do not define conspicuously and do not carry the weight of law. trespass is worst judicial issue if the office manager wishes to pursue.

Sorry, Mr Sparky, you will find I have quietly stated over the years, without fanfare, that concealed is concealed but as I am not an attorney such commentary should be taken as gossip; additionally, it is presumed the individual reading my quiet comment is cognizant of THEIR statutes, coupled with the applicable judicial ramifications if they decide to listen to gossip.

Final, the main theme on that private property owner's rights thread you reference was the mate's consistently expressed rants and tirades in that commentary based and centered on his elitist mental sloppily CC was ok as he abrogates private property owner right to benefit his convenience.

Sorry, your post is nothing but an inference and is a out of the blue & blatant attempt to discredit this member's reputation... with a thought of why?

Let us see---

Costco does not advertise in any way that I have seen this anti-gun policy but it is included IF one asks for and reads a separate document one is not given when becoming a member.

Your physician's office has a posted sign indicating to all that they don't want any weapons and limiting other activities on the premises.

Neither one of these actions is a violation of law but both can result in being trespassed by the property owner/lease holder.

Concealed is Concealed--- I agree BUT, if if be "sloppily concealed" or exposure of a "bug" during an exam--- neither is concealed.

Finally, it seems neither entity, Costco or your Doctor's office is really interested in actively pursuing and enforcing their policies.

What was it I missed?

I am lost as to the significant difference.
