I decided I will attempt to host an open carry picnic for us the South Kitsap area since Trigger Dr wants new blood and no one else stepped up.

this thread is for anyone to bounce ideas and advice since I've never done anything remotely like this.....

saturday July 26th is a tentative date since that's my next week off (I'm now a long haul trucker so that takes a bit of my time)

While I have several good ideas for where, I would like some input on locations, I am trying to coordinate with someone who wanted a Pierce County meetup I talked on the phone briefly with this person last night and we'll meet up next tuesday and discuess, so locations in South Kitsap or Key Penninsula or Gig Harbor area are also on the table.

Finally, anyone with advice on helping circulate the word of such an event or knows who/where I can borrow picnic stuff from would be nice. So all ideas before I make up everything myself go to this thread!

Thanks!

I have it on my calendar, and I will be glad to be a participant. I am happy that you picked up the gauntlet and volunteered to organize it this year. :D

I need to call parks and see if there's an open picnic shelter, may need to push back to august. I'll know by next Monday and post a new thread if new date is needed,

I know south kitsap regoinal and long lake are booked out. Key penninsula volunteer and Sehmel park in gig harbor and the only places that may still be available 26th and I wasn't able to get a hold of them this week, so I'll call Monday. It's hard to organize these things from the interstate....

So for the 26th I can get the picnic shelter at Anna F smith park in bremerton, I know that's further north then many would prefer, but from where I'm sitting it seems like the best option, If I can get some feedback on that and if no one objects by 9 am Monday morning I'm reserving the shelter and moving forward for an open carry picnic there.

No BBQ. Many attendees like to cook their lunch.

Ok so I have selected the location, we will use Anna Smith park on 7601 Tracyton blvd.

ITS THE BEST CHOICE for the date range, next year I'll swing for long lake quicker.

So with that in mind, I will make the actual reservation once I get to a desktop computer so I can print and fill out the application, once that's all in online, I will post a thread with times and dates.

Fr number of attendees I will put 20 approx. seems an appropriate number. Sound good?

What should I write down to describe the event? I'm thinking "non commercial social gathering" is all the county needs to know on paper. Should I put "open carry picnic? Trigger doc? Jet pilot? Anyone who knows what they're doing?

I think I put down 50-100 expected, and we exceeded that. I went back through all my correspondence, but I couldn't find the initial request that I made. I think I said "Group Organization Picnic", or something innocuous. I don't think they care. Tamara Krueger was the contact person. She was all business, and everything was very formal, As it should be. She will send you paperwork to sign. Once you get everything in, she will send you the Detailed Receipt, the Conditional Permit, the Picnic Shelter Disclaimers, Shelter Cleaning Checklist, and Reserved Signs for Picnic Shelter. Make sure someone goes early to put up the signs. By the time TriggerDr got there, someone had already taken the shelter as their own. He had to boot them out, and they were not happy.

Don't you just love dealing with the county?

I don't have access to a desk top and my tablet won't let me fill in their online rental form, so I call my brother, have him fill one out, and then he can't email it because he doesn't have a paid adobe subscription, so tommorow he will print it out at his colleges library computer and fax it to the county for me.

Hopefully that will work and I owe younger bro big time,.

So I'm confident we will have no issue, hopefully they get back to me no later then friday and we will be ready.

I should've volunteered for this 3 months ago...
