SNIP

UNC law prof Jeff Welty addresses the question: “Do law-abiding North Carolina residents have a right to carry a gun openly in public? Generally, yes.”

He covers the statutory exceptions, but the basic issue was settled by the N.C. Supreme Court in 1921, in State v. Kerner.

. . .

Case closed. The right to carry firearms openly enjoys much greater protection than does the privilege of carrying a concealed weapon.

I signed up, and hope that work will leave me along long enough to watch...might have to see if I can capture it and watch later, otherwise!

Did anyone get a chance to watch (and maybe even record) the webinar? Work intruded...and my attempt to record it failed. :)

Watched, not recorded. They said they were recording and the seminar would be available in a couple weeks, where I'm not sure.

I suppose the real question then becomes...was it worth the watching? Did it add any new information to what is already available on this forum?

Not that I heard, but I dropped at the 1 hour point and it looked like it went another 15 min after that, so not sure if I missed anything in that time period

I watched the entire webinar and didn't hear/see anything that has not already been covered here. I'm sure it was good for those who had no knowledge of the laws going into it. The professor was fairly knowledgeable and really only presented the law and did not get into any drama or push any agendas.

I don't like the division. I understand how one is considered more of a right and one is considered a privilege, but I'm of the opinion that either one should fall under the protection of the Second Amendment.

Method of carry should not be an issue subject to a permit process.
