"The category is under review following recent consumer and merchant feedback."

Consumer and merchant feedback my a**! The merchant seems pretty pissed about it to me and I'm sure the consumers are too.

Here's a response to email I sent regarding this issue.

"Thank you for reaching out to us. We appreciate your feedback and take these inquiries seriously.

Due to customer feedback, gun-related deals -- including shooting ranges, conceal-and-carry, and clay shooting -- are on hiatus as we review our internal policies for the types of deals that we feature. Groupon has always aimed to offer deals driven by local consumer preference and request; at this time, enough consumers have asked us to eliminate the category that we believe a review is warranted. A decision has not yet been made.

Thank you again for contacting us and please let me know if I can do anything else to help.

Regards,"

I call BS on "consumer feedback" being the driving force behind this. I heard no such thing before they made this decision, but I have noticed that all pro gun posts on Groupon's FB page (and there are a LOT...sat and watched 90+ get posted in a minute's time) get deleted almost immediately after being posted. They are apparently an anti-gun business and I have made the decision that I will not be spending one dime with them in the future, as I would encourage all rights minded individuals to do.

I don't see why any gun dealer would need to connect with a business like this. Gun sales are up; there are plenty of buyers out there.

They're not anti-gun, they merely aren't providing that type of service.

If they used to provide that service, an decide to not provide that service due to customer feedback, they have decided to be anti-that service. Be it guns, haircuts, or babysitting.

To be Anti, is to be against. It appears some customers were against what they were offering.

A business ought to offer whatever services it wants.

I'm anti-child porn but don't actively fight against it.

I agree, businesses should offer the services they want and serve the customers they want and reap the rewards or hazzards as well.

Let me re-phrase that. I don't support or condone child pornography, but I most certainly am anti-child porn.

You can't "shop" there. It is like an electronic/online coupon service. I've gotten some good deals on some service/products for more than 50% off. If they are "anti-gun" so be it, I will not be going into their store, but dealing with an actual business.

If groupon wants to be anti-gun, then I will be anti-groupon.

However, it doesn't stop my girlfriend from buying all these 80% off massages and spa days....

And some (a lot) of their customers are for them offering gun-related deals. The fact that they are censoring all pro-gun posts on their Facebook page but not censoring anti-gun comments would tend to support the belief that Groupon is anti-gun.

This is the response I received from customer support when I told Groupon to delete my account and that me and my family won't be using there service anymore.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us.

We understand that this is a sensitive topic, and that some of our customers may not agree with our choice to pause the promotion of firearm-related deals. Groupon has always aimed to offer a diverse range of products and services to meet the various tastes and interests of our subscribers. However, at this time, enough customers and merchants have voiced their opinions that we believe a hiatus is warranted.

Please note that we have never sold guns, and this hiatus only applies to firearm-related deals including shooting ranges, clay pigeon shooting, and concealed weapons training classes. We have not made a final determination regarding this category -- we are simply taking a break and may reevaluate in the future.

If you'd still like to unsubscribe, you can do so by clicking "Unsubscribe from all Groupon emails" in your account at www.groupon.com/subscription_center, or the "unsubscribe with one click" link at the bottom of our daily emails.

We genuinely appreciate your opinion and the feedback you've given us. I'll be sure to share your comments with the appropriate people.

I had received the same response. I stopped reading my Groupon e-mails, told them I would not buy anything until their policy changed, but did not unsubscribe from the service.

This morning I found an e-mail advertising a Firearm Simulator Session. Perhaps they have resumed firearms related sales.

Anyone want to take the time to send a follow up?
