I'll bet you a line of $100 bills as long as I am (that would total about $1000) that it's a semiautomatic.
And that's from the deputy police chief!
If the "pro's" can't give out accurate information, how can the press report accurately?
Shouldn't they be able to rely on what the police say to be true & accurate?

Because it involves a firearm. The media will report anything they feel will "Sell" their product. They don't care if it is accurate or if it is newsworthy or not. The word "GUN" sell papers and airtime right now!!!!
