So my thoughts would be

Scott D'Amboise - Excellent answer, but perhaps a bit impersonal.

Rick Bennett - I'll just do what the NRA says to do, I don't have my own principles to stand on.

Bruce Poliquin - I won't make it better, but I won't make it worse.

Deb Plowman - Cool answer, but how do you feel about existing laws. Would you fight to repeal existing gun control?

Charles Summers - Don't want to rock the boat. We already can do that.

Wlliam Schneider - Glad you have a shooting range, but what about the "bearing" part? Are you for or against unrestricted RIGHT to "bear" arms.

Mitt Romney - Whichever way the political winds are blowing, that direction I will sail.

But of course, they would most likely all be better than any liberal candidate.

Ive known Rich Bennett for over thirty years. Your comments have zero merit.

My comments were based on his statement in the above post. I don't know him either. The only information I have to go on is their statements in the previous post. I was merely stating my IMPRESSIONS on their positions based on the previous posted information. That's all.

I'm a life member in the NRA. Having said that. I stand by my belief. I really don't care if the candidate has an A+ rating from the NRA. I care about where they stand on the issue. I want to hear them say "I believe the 2nd Amendment gives all citizens the right to keep and bear whatever arm they choose in the manner they feel comfortable with. I will work to eliminate existing laws hindering that right, and I will do all in my power to ensure that no further regulations be made."

I want a STRONG statement. Not an endorsement from another organization (even if it's as big and powerful as the NRA)

Rick Bennett's website says nothing about pushing for National Reciprocity of carry permits, or of pushing for Constitutional Carry throughout the US. None of these candidates say that this is their goal. That's why I think they're all imperfect on the issue. If you're going to run on the national stage, then I think a strong 2A candidate should be pushing for the extension of carry rights to ALL citizens, not just hunters, not just for "tradition" but for modern practical defense.

Scott D’Amboise NAGR survey = 100%

Scott D’Amboise NAGR survey = 100% Pro-Gun.

Just received a card from NAGR about the candidates.

According to Nat'l Assoc. for Gun Rights, Fredricksburg, VA., Scott D"Amboise is the Only GOP candidate that has answered their survey concerning gun rights.

Summers, Schneider, Plowman & Bennett haven't replied yet to the survey.

Time will tell where it all settles out, I suppose we'll know soon enough.

p.s., Also NAGR states, "Demand Bruce Polquin apologize to gun owners for his past support of gun control."

NAGR is a scam. No wonder the other candidates didn't respond.

I'm really not sure who they are. Just passing along some info which I received.

How are they a Scam?
I just answered my own question.

Found some stuff on S&W Forum about NAGR,,,

"OK, I did some deep water checking on this outfit. It appears to be nothing more than a way to raise money for the two people that run it. They use outdated info to entice people to donate. Their fed tax returns are so vague that they are lucky they are in audited. Donations are running about $150,000 per yr and their expenses are way more than that. Of course, the head of it gets a nice salary as does his partner.

Many places on the internet refers to it as a scam and I see nothing that would cause me to disagree. I found many gun sites where it was discussed and then some new member with his first post defends the operation and never posts again.

What I could not find is any legislation they sponsored but plenty of trips the head honchos made to gun shows and such at the expense of the association.

Again, they may have some positive things going for them but I have not found it. The President seems to enjoy having his photo made with people of importance at NRA functions."

Great, that says he supports the 2nd Amendment... But it doesn't say what he thinks it MEANS. Obama also says he "Supports the 2nd Amendment." So does Romney. Does he believe the 2A gives the right to CARRY? Does he believe that the right to CARRY should not be regulated? I don't want a politician that thinks permitted carry and time and place restrictions are "reasonable restrictions" to the term "shall not be infringed"

As I said. I was going off the snippit from the candidates own website. No, I don't get his newsletter. I would also bet 99.9% of voters don't get his newsletter either. So if he wants to ensure that people know where he stands on the issue, a stronger and more public statement is needed. This newsletter is marginally better than his website, but it still doesn't say what he's going to DO once he gets to Washington. He can support the 2A all he wants, but what specifically is he going to push for? Repealing the 1986 Assault weapons ban? The Federal Gun Free School Zone Act? Passing national reciprocity? Untaxing Suppressors? What are his goals in regard to the 2nd Amendment?

I have these questions for ALL candidates, not just Bennett.
