Thanks for posting.

Hopefully this, and the marijuana law will both go through, and make 2011 a landmark year for personal freedoms.

Since the neo-cons elected to lansing last November are getting ready to gut the voter approved medical marijuana initiative this fall, I would expect that they will do whatever is necessary to keep marijuana as illegal as possible in this state no matter what happens at the federal level. And I think we both know that it has no chance on the federal level at this point either.

If I get some time I might try to put togeather a sample letter for the forum in support of this. That way no one has any excuses for not contacting thier representitive in support of this bill.

This bill needs to pass! It's high time the Federal Government got back in line with supporting all of our rights. Repealing the school GFZ would be a very good step in the right direction.

Funny I was just thinking today how this would be a good time to repeal this legislation and it wouldn't surprise me if Obama were to sign the bill to try to get 2A support going into the 2012 election.

Obviously Im pro gun. I cant support killing innocents for any reason, and the .gov shouldnt be telling me what I can do with my own body, especially with medical issues. Then theres the whole hemp thing.

Knowing where someone stands on pot is one of the most clear indicators on how the candidate really views personal freedom.

If Ron Paul doesn't even make the primary it is going to be a clear sign that the constitution is dead in this country.

And then we can all take a victory lap on our unicorns and stop for a snack at the jellybean tree.

Substance over style will not win a presidential election.

I actually voted for Dr Paul in my first vote for President back in 1988 when he was the Libertarian candidate; I met him on the campaign trail and found him very intelligent and cognizant of constitutional issues. I distinctly recall him calling former President Reagan "a failure" and railing against the legacy of high deficits that he left us. http://www.ninomiya.org/libertarian/ronpaul_vs_laughlin.html

Dr Paul has some connection to Michigan; he did his residency at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and his brother is a Lutheran minister in Grand Rapids http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dan-treul/an-interview-with-ron-pau_b_71108.html

Now, I am not saying that I agree with him 100%... especially since he has become MUCH more conciliatory towards the "statist" quo (playing nice with fellow Republicans); I would even dare say that he changed his viewpoint from Libertarian to more of a party-line republican. However, his support of the 2nd Amendment has, at least to my knowledge, not changed. I probably would still vote for the guy on that fact alone... but realize that as opposed to my vote in '88, because of his stance on non-2A issues, my vote now would be for "a-lesser-of-two-evils".
