"Of the two concealed-carry bills being bandied about in the state Legislature, the so-called "constitutional carry" bill in the Senate, which requires public buildings either to allow weapons or set up screening stations, appears to have the upper hand."

Take note of some of the clueless knee jerk comments. (I know that's redundant.)

A hearing scheduled for Thursday on the Assembly bill, which would require those carrying concealed weapons to obtain a license from the state Department of Justice, was canceled.
...an aide for Rep. Jeffrey Mursau, R-Crivits, who authored the Assembly bill, says the Senate bill will likely get a vote in both houses.
They're listening!!

spokeswoman for Sen. Pam Galloway, R-Wausau, the author of the Senate concealed-carry bill, says the amendments are done and the bill is headed for a vote by the full Senate.

Either armed civilians would have easy access to lawmakers and be allowed to attend sometimes heated committee meetings and protests; or weapons screening, put in place after weeks of protests earlier this year, would become a permanent fixture.
Wait, wait... you mean to tell me that for however many years WI has been a state, there hasn't been screening for people entering the Capitol, and it was the people exercising their free speech rights earlier this year that made lawmakers nervous enough to install it?

What problems have there been in the past? Is it only this latest batch of legislators who have managed to tick people off enough to get death threats? I find that hard to believe.

The State Public Defenders Office says repealing the misdemeanor offense of going armed with a concealed and dangerous weapon could save the agency about $102,000 a year
Another bonus!

I was waiting for the DNR to chime in on this. If there is one facet of government in WI that REALLY needs a gutting it's the Department of Natural Resources.

DNR means something completely different in the medical field. Perhaps we should apply that to the Department of Natural Resources as well?

We need to remember that the people commenting who are against people being able to defend themselves are the same people who thought Obama would be good for this country.
If Obama is the answer, It must have been a really stupid question!

According to one of the idiotic comments on that article, I am supposed to learn jujitsu to defend myself instead of exercising my 2A rights.
Yeah, Right. 46 yrs old, overweight, partially disabled due to multiple failed spinal surgeries from catastrophic injuries, yet a am supposed to be proficient in hand to hand combat against an armed criminal.

These people really need to step away from the hookah and put the weed down for a few days, it has obviously fired their brains!

Does anyone besides me think that these people do not even read what they are typing?
Then we have an idiot saying that we should be limited to black-powder muzzle-loaders. Well, does that mean they will be limited to using quills and writing on parchment or chipping their 1A protected right to free speech into stone tablets, no radio, no TV, no Internet?

Yeah, I always like the "you're limited to 18th century arms" baloney. Okay... I'd love to have some Revolutionary War era artillery pieces in my personal arsenal. It would make having AR-15 firepower look pretty tame.
