I work in an industry where I get to go into people's homes everyday. Today I was in a home of a man who had served 47 years total in law enforcement, 25 years with the Memphis Police and 22 years with the FBI. He was a very interesting man to say the least. He had a sign on his door that said protected by smith & wesson. So I started up a convo about guns and what not. I was curious as to what he thought about "civilians" carrying guns. He said that he didn't mind it if said person could pass a background check through the TBI. He then stated that one time, not to long ago, he was in line in walmart and he approached a woman who happened to be open carrying. He still, as a retired MPD officer, has the authority to carry as an officer. He told the lady to cover up and she told him to go to hell LOL.
He then went on to say how he called one of his "cop" buddies to come there and set the woman straight. I politely informed him that TN issues a Handgun Permit not a CCW as he kept calling it. I even mentioned to him that the state AG had opined that it is in fact a perfectly legal method of carry in TN. He said that he didn't like that at all but then I kinda snapped back that LE are here to enforce laws and not their opinions. The man had extensive knowledge of weapons and was very nice. I am sure the gun laws have changed ALOT since he was a police officer LOL
