Looking for suggestions of American made only compact/Subcompact 1911's. Currently my all time favorite at the moment is my Ruger SR1911 5in model. Wanting to get another 1911 preferred compact/Sub-Compact for the rare occasion that I have to conceal carry. I love the weight of an all steel frame, can't stand poly anymore sadly. I'd say the trigger is my number two reasons for this also. Again "American Made" only and not else where. Not hating on other manufactures, but I personally decided to buy firearms only made in America. Please keep the negative comments down for my personal reasons.

Awesome, I'll checkout the ones on that list. I'm going to do a lot of reading and reviews before I buy one. I fell in love with Ruger's 1911's, specifically SR1911 5in model. Looked at possibly getting the 4.25 barrel, but not sure if that would really make any difference if trying to conceal carry the rare times that I have to.

The SR1911 compact would provide a familiar set of controls, familiar.

Also by utilizing the right magazines, you could carry both simultaneously with magazines that fit either/both.

Hmmm you do have a point and it's the same pistol. I might bite on the compact version if the price is right. This will resolve my wanting an "American Made" and 1911 all at the same time. A long with it being same magazines and such. Wonder if they offer it in different colors hmmm!

OP indicates in post #1, no poly. Hence, no cracker for you...:p

OP might want to change his signature line which demonstrates a fondness for Glocks.
