It seems that many Virginians either do not know or have forgotten that Pocahontas was a local celebrity of international repute.

She was a member of the Algonquin (see chief Powhatan) tribe of native Americans. Both my son and daughter-in-law are members in fact of what we now call Powhatans and today live in Powhatan, Va near where she may have walked.
