Quote, A Republican lawmaker in South Carolina took out a loaded pistol while arguing with constituents pushing for better gun control Friday...

Norman says he took out his pistol and placed it on a table while talking with volunteers from Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America to prove that "guns don't shoot people; people shoot guns" and that guns are only dangerous when its criminals who are using them.

"I'm tired of these liberals jumping on the guns themselves as if they are the cause of the problem," Norman says. "Guns are not the problem." While Norman claimed he was making constituents at the meeting safer, some said they felt uncomfortable or unsafe when he took out his gun.

“Rep. Norman’s behavior today was a far cry from what responsible gun ownership looks like," says Lori Freemon, one of the volunteers at the meeting. Norman, who has a concealed carry permit, says he plans to take his gun out at more meetings in the future. Unquote

I think the word you are refraining from using is "brandishing".

He's right; guns aren't the problem. But their owners sure can demonstrate what the real problem is.

Very foolish. The safest place for any carry gun is in the secure holster. Absence a legitimate threat, drawing that gun in a room full of people is stupid, at best. Now, if he'd been carrying openly, he could have made his point easily. Or simply revealing the holstered gun... But probably a waste of time in any case.

It sounds like you are totally against using a LOADED snub nose 38 in place of a bottle when playing spin the bottle. Or are you just against playing spin the bottle?

While it unlikely that the majority of us wouldn't do this, it WAS a good "visual aid" and demonstration. By placing an inanimate object where everybody could see it, then continue talking about the actual cause of of the violence, it reinforced the idea that their (the Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America "people") accusations are both misdirected and create more harm than good.
