Transporting pistols across state lines.

This question came up the other day between friends. I have both a NY and CT pistol permit. I have a few friends that have a NY permit but not a CT permit. If they are traveling with me and we cross over the state line, at the moment of crossing, can I claim their pistol as mine for purposes of transporting to a range in CT? I know that NY requires every pistol that I carry to be on my permit but CT doesn't have such a requirement. Another thing that came up was that if my CT friend lends me a gun to try out in CT, am I okay to transport it on my person? Not sure where to find these answers.
